Kern is a scheduling company. They schedule for a number of different companies. I have never had a problem accepted work scheduled by Kern.

Kern is perfectly legitimate. Be aware that, should you accept an assignment with Kern, you will need to register with the actual MSC that is offering the shop (and paying you!). You will need to fill out the survey for the actual MSC offering the shop plus a quick confirmation on the KSS site that you completed the job.

Kern is a legit Scheduling company handling many different MS Companies. They are NOT an MSC which is why you couldn't find them. I work with them in my town and in Las Vegas where they handle many jobs. You do need to sign with the original MSC whose jobs they are handling.

Kern is a legitimate company, and has been established within the industry for quite a number of years. Their schedulers are prompt & friendly most of the time, depending on how much Dunkin Donuts coffee they had that morning.
I recently scheduled a banking shop through KSS. The shop itself seems easy, especially for the rate and bonus (rate: $60; bonus: $10 - no purchase required. You have to deposit $25 into an account that can be closed after a week.) Compared to other grocery and dining shops that I’ve done for smaller rates of $12-15, this seems like a steal.
Do you think it’s worth going through KSS as a middle-man or is it simpler just to register with their clients and get jobs through the individual clients? Admittedly I wouldn’t have heard of this MSC before KSS, but now that I know the dealio is it better just to have my own account and monitor those job boards myself?

I always prefer to go directly to the MSC when I can. However, there are some MSC's that do not have job boards and only advertise their jobs on KSS.

This particular MSC, I accept jobs for only through KSS.

I just got home from a Kern job at a msc that does not have a job board. $10 pay, reimbursement and $12 bonus....wonderful bonus for L.A. I applied for the job and heard back soon after. Why am I reading the forum when I should be doing my report???

Yes, KSS is a reputable scheduling company. Pete and Lori from KSS are really great. They always are really responsive and respond to emails almost instantaneously. I really appreciated it when they took the extra time to push Measure Customer Perspectives to send out payments.
I received a Priority Mail envelope from them with a check and instructions to go deposit check and purchase gift cards that need to have pictures taken of them and sent back to them and I could keep my commission of $300.00. This sounds odd to me. Is this legit coming from this people ?
This is a scam. Since you received it via the USPS, report it to the US Postal Inspectors. Keep everything intact since the Postal Inspectors may want the "evidence".

Kern is legitimate, but the company that sent you the check is not. Kern does not do business that way. They are schedulers, no shopping companies.
Scammers have been known to send fake checks like they did with you. If you want to test, call the bank that's on the check and verify the funds. The bank will tell you the account doesn't exist.
Give the check and envelope to your post office so they can investigate.

Thanks for the answer. Are you familiar with this company's MO? You know typical way of doing business with the mystery shoppers they have?

That is what looks odd to me. The package is from an address in S.Carolina, the check is from a company named Aircraft Accessories in Oklahoma, which I found a website about them, and the letter has the KSS logo. How come would an aircraft company want a review from Walmart gift cards?
KSS is a scheduling company as those above have stated...I have worked for them numerous times, they are good as are their schedulers. I do 99% Banks for them.

KSS has a website - the link can be found on the lists linked below. Go to the website and register as a shopper. Once you do, go to the "Job Board" tab. You will find a list of jobs they are scheduling. Find one you like and apply. If you are accepted, you will get an email telling you so. Then go back to the website and read the detailed job description - which will likely involve following a link to the actual company that will pay you. Sign up with that company. Do the job. Fill out the required reports. Wait 6-8 weeks. Get paid.
What you received is a total and complete scam. If you deposit the check (even if that's all you do), you will lose money.

Thanks for the help. I guess they only give assignments through their website which I subscribed,not through mail. One observation, I noticed that when I log in to their website and you check the address on the address bar it shows as SassieShop.com/kernshoppers not as KSS. I supposed this is ok right?

Yes. Kern schedules shops for mystery companies. They do not send out checks. or have their own jobs. If you need more confirmation, go to their website and contact the owner, Lorri Kern. She will tell you it is fake.

That's because it's a scam, and not a very good one. You cash the check and buy the gift cards. You mail the gift cards. A few days later, your account is overdrawn.

One huge tell that a mystery shop is a scam is if it pays $300 for something as simple as cashing a check and buying gift cards to mail out. Mystery shopping is work, and many do not pay even close to $300. The highest paying ones I have ever scheduled through KSS personally, were hotel and senior living shops which paid $100 (the hotel reimbursed the room and purchases as well), and those take at least a few hours to complete with the visit and report. If someone is telling you that they will pay $300 for something that won't even take an hour, it's most likely a scam.
