Thanks for the information Mert. I meant MSP.

Do the grocery stores pay well for mystery shopping? How much do they reimburse for grocery shopping?
They vary a great deal. One I know of pays $14 and reimburses $1; another pays $7 and reimburses $10; another pays $15 and reimburses $10; another that I haven't seen in a while pays $13 and reimburses $20. Then there are other occasions to go into a grocery store and check specific things that may or may not reimburse any groceries at all. It all depends on what they need done.
I do one for a flat $22.00 and the other $5.00 + 9.00 reimbursement (same as Carol).

The only one I do pays $5 for the form, and reimburses up to $15. It's a place I go to anyway, so I basically look at this one as a $20 shop.
I do two. One pays a flat $15 in form of a gift card back to the grocery store with no reimbursement.

The other pays $7 with $8 reimbursement but it is often bonused by $10 or more.
For some reason, the moment the $14 shops are posted here, they are attacked by a flock of shoppers. They seldom last more than a couple of hours. I look at it as $14 towards groceries at local stores I would go to or are slightly out of my way. Stay 1/2 hour in the shop, spend not quite that much time inputting, so making maybe $15 or so an hour.

I'd love to know, as I miss them.

I do 2 grocery shops each month or so. One pays $20 with a $1 reimbursement. That one you need to report on 7 departments. It's a large discount grocery store with stores in 5 states.

The other pays $27 with no reimbursement (that one is a large store and you need to go into other departments aside from grocery, and report on like 11 departments).

They aren't that hard though. You need to write short narratives on 3-5 employees, and get all the employee names, but the rest is pretty much yes/no.

Both these stores have stores in California. I am not clear on how much info I can reveal here.
Rainy, I think the $27 multi-department one is pretty hard. I have always gotten marked down on it. You have to put in the exact time you visit a department, and if no one is there, come back later. It takes about an hour. I would much rather do the same store for $15 and only visit the jewelry dept. or the electronics dept. for 10 to 15 minutes.
@57Carol- the reason you have gotten marked down is that for years they have had only ONE person who did all the reviews for this store shop. I honestly think that person was overly critical, on a power trip, and downright mean. In the last few weeks new reviewers have been trained for the first time in years, and I plan to start applying again in June, once the old reviewer is completely gone.

Oh, hey thanks for the info. Yes, I certainly lost confidence when I was picked upon. I was even told I didn't understand the way this store was to be shopped. Thanks again.

Has any MSC recently added grocery shops for the DC metro area, i.e., DC, MD and VA?

MFi and Trendsource have grocery shops aropund here. I grab every one I can do. It depends on where you live.
I have had 2 different reviewers for the $27 shop and have had no problems so far. I agree it is bit time-consuming.

Carol, do you know if you do the electronics or jewelry shop if you are then put on the same waiting period to the grocery shop (30 or 60 days, I forgot)? Or can you do both of those shops in the same window?
Rainy,
unless you are in a different part of the country, the $27 shop has had the same reviewer who did 100% of them for about 10 years now. Got that info direct from the MSC. There is no second reviewer, unless you are doing the electronics shop in a part of the $27 store. I'm in Oregon, and I think Carol is in Washington. It is time consuming, but if you make a "cheat sheet" to take with you, that looks just like a grocery list and write down the departments exactly in the order as they appear on the form, you can get your own groceries and be in and out in about an hour. My best time so far has been 52 minutes.

The California red and white grocery store for those who are "fortunate or intelligent" that was previously shopped with MarketForce is now shopped with Sinclair Customer Metrics.

Yes, the shop is not bad (for me at least), and I do it pretty much like you do.

Maybe the MSC hired someone else because I also live in the Pacific NW. Unless the editors are different than the evaluators, I have had 2 different ones for the $27 shop, my most recent one being the end of March (I've only done the $27 shop 3 times so far, and the electronic shop twice. The electronic one did have another editor who is not one who has edited any of my $27 shops).
To whomever asked about the electronic/jewelry shops, they are from a different company.

Carol
The jewelry shops at this store are done by another company, but the electronics one at this store are done by the same company that does the $27 ones- I do at least one a month.

The grocery shops from Marketforce in the Mid-Atlantic region have reappeared.

I enjoyed doing Fresh and Easy markets, but the MSC has not had anything last month or this month...

Why not contact the grocery stores you ask about personally. I have done that with several companies and they willingly tell me, even send me a link to the companies that do shops.
