MaritzCX questions

Hi, does anyone here use Maritz? I just signed up with them after seeing the list of companies on this board. The questions I have are about their shop requirements which they dont really show until you get the shop. They pay very well for the shops which makes me have some questions about what they all entail.

They have quite a few bank shops, both phone and in branch. They seem to pay pretty well, but I'm assuming that's because each shop will take a bit of time. Has anyone done these and if so what did you think?

They also have full purchase shops for a cell phone company near me and it pays very well but, again, what is all required of me? I know I have to sign up and purchase a phone, but apparently I can cancel and return. Would this be one time shop for the phone company since I have to sign up with my actual name (I assume my actual name)? Also, is the high pay given because there's some type of cancellation fee for me?

Thanks for any help.

If you look to the right, it says this in the blue box:

So, it's a massive company.

I have not done that shop though. I have worked for Maritz for over 15 years.
I like Maritz and they are easy to communicate with. I find their bank shops streight forward and easy after you do one. I have not done cell phone shops.
The teller and credit card shops in my area (search for zip 08021) are straight forward and pay fairly. I did one of the "unauthorized" shops last year and found it odd, so I haven't done any more, but it was pretty easy and paid fairly. I haven't done one of their cell phone shops yet. I did two luxury cars shops for them last year, and for once, the pay for a car dealer shop seemed fair (unlike the $20 test-drive-not-required shops another MSC has all the time).

Yeah, @myst4au...I get what you're saying: the "unauthorized" shops would just make me feel funny....so I've never picked them up.
I just started mystery shopping in January and they have been my favorite company to work with so far. Super easy to communicate with and the reports are straight forward.
I have done a few non reveal gas shops and a few teller shops. In my opinon what you see is what you get with them. I cant speak on the other shops as I haven't done them. They are very reachable by phone for the most part and patient and easy to work with.

Don't forget to complete your invoice on their site after your shops are done.only way you get paid.

Me too! How does that work? Do they give you the account information to use? Same with the damaged debit card deal. My debit card is just fine, so I'm wondering how it works. Anybody know? Do they give you an account to inquire about?
The damaged debit is super easy..I told them that it got damaged in the washing machine...then you just report on what steps they took after that.

@dawnhu,

That's good to know, but also funny because I used to use the old fashioned money advice and put my credit cards in a jar of water and freeze them. It always ruined them and made them come out of the deep freeze split in half...!
I used to make around $400 a month on their bank shops when they paid less than $10 a shop. I only wish that client had banks around where I live now. I wish Maritz had ANYTHING other than gas shops where I am now.
The damaged card one is easy. Just make sure not to bring it along. Do not say it was lost. The "unauthorized" one is odd because it has to be one of your own accounts. I picked one. the CSR the day I opened it had documented our entire conversation. There was no reasonable way to deny it. It was not escalated. I got paid. This must be one of the expected results.

I would never try a phone shop that requires purchasing a phone and then canceling. I have tried that twice, once for T-Mobile and the other time for ATT. Neither was a shop. I live in an area that has spotty coverage, so I can't use some companies. Both times, I saw their ads and both companies said that they had coverage in my area. I couldn't test it out without signing up and buying a phone. Both times, I tried making a call from my home and could not. I returned the phones according to their return policy and that's when the problems started. I was on the phone (mostly on hold) for at least an hour numerous times. Most of the time was on hold waiting for someone in the right department. In both cases, it took between 3 and 4 months to get them to stop billing me. They credited the phones, but did not stop the contract. What a nightmare! I don't know what phone provider you are considering shopping, but my advice is DON'T. Even though the shopping company may do the cancellation for you, I wouldn't take the chance of having to deal with canceling the contract.

You must be an account holder for a certain period of time, I believe having the account open for at minimum three months. For the damaged and unauthorized shops.

I usually say my dog got my wallet and ate the card. That way when they ask if I have any parts of it, I can politely tell them I chose not to retrieve it from the "package" left in my yard.

I only complete the unauthorized version over the phone. It's too obvious I use the accounts often for me to keep a straight face in person.
Thank you for the insight. Are you saying that you request a new ATM card? I ask only because the old one is deactivated. So that's where my confusion lies. I can't be without an ATM card for 7 to 10 days while waiting for a replacement.

I did the damage card twice. The last one I had to say I did not know my pin...duh. That was rather awkward. The banker would not give me a new card without knowing the pin and getting authorization from the manager who was unavailable. I got paid for the shop. Don't think I'll do another if I have to say I don't know my pin #.

I have gotten a temporary ATM card each time I did this. It worked until the one with my name on it arrived. Actually, the old one kept working also until I activated the new one.

I got one without knowing my PIN. Just took a few more steps to identify me. But, every shop is unique.

Ah, thank you so much. I reached out to Maritz and sent an online inquiry but nobody got back with me so I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. Thank you.
@iblori,

Call them. They are one of the rare mscs that are very easy to reach by the phone.

Thanks all! Yeah I talked to them and you have to have a current or recently cancelled account with the bank, which I don't. So no go. I just noticed they now have mystery/reveal gas station inspections near me. Any advice? I've never done a reveal audit/inspection. What does it consist of and how long would it take?
@ Dawnhu

I did call them, twice, and twice, they never bothered to return my call.

This doesn't sound right? Are you sure you called Maritz? Whenever I've called there is always someone there or they transfer me to the right team

I got voicemail both times and left a message asking someone to call me back. And nobody did.
Can you call again as long as it is normal business hours? Maybe walk us through the options on the phone you pressed..ie what team option you pressed..also what number are you dialing to call them?

Them not calling back is unusual. Where other MSC's will ignore my call or send an email that doesn't answer the question asked, Maritz always calls me back. I personally wouldn't do a job like the phone purchase one as a first-time job with any MSC. I prefer to get to know an MCS and their reporting system before I commit to a job that requires so much out of pocket.
