A Closer Look

Okay got it and I did not "seem to think" you personally thought California shops were easy. That was a qualifying statement from me about how my brain works. I feel I have to defend us city folk, especially in this state which is heavily populated by both people and cars. Schedulers and others not familiar with the layout of the state often (not you necessarily) see a gazillion shops, find one 850 miles away and ask me if I can do it for $2. Yes I am sure it happens to everyone.
If you saw enough shops to go up and down the coast not making any money due to travel expenses and time this does not mean you are seeing all the shops in Califiornia. We have a population that equals that of almost all the other states totaled together. So perhaps if you saw the same number of shops that you would see when you look at 30 or 40 other states together those might still not be the case that you are seeing all the shops that are offered. I am pretty sure that was your point so correct me if I am wrong.

Edited to correct my exaggeration...California equals in population the same as the total population of 22 of the lowest populated states.

You are not reading what I have typed, and thanks for the geography review.

I looked at shops in the *entire* state of California as an example for the OP. As I do not live there, I do not care about travel expenses and time in California, and I do not care how many shops there are. I will take that into account when I travel there to shop. I am concerned with those in the areas I shop, which are five different states that in total have a larger area of California. They cover metropolitan areas with horrendous traffic and too many people, and rural areas where you better pray you don't run out of gas before you reach the next station or see a farmer on the side of the road.
