What would you do?

I have recently been working on several web shops. I was to review the client's website (auto dealerships) for professionalism, which i did thoroughly, then navigate to the used inventory page, choose a vehicle and send a "more information" request to assess the emailed response. The page showed 0 inventory. I contact the scheduler asking what they want me to do and after an hour wait i am given a different location. Same thing, onto the website, assess and navigate to used inventory, 0 inventory. Contact the scheduler again, another wait and they tell me to do another location. By this time i had been working and waiting on this $5 shop for several hours. I told the scheduler i would do that shop but since it will be my 3rd attempt at a $5 shop perhaps they could bonus it by $2. No reply and the other applications i had in for the same shops were removed. I have a 10/10 rating with the company, have responded to phone calls asking me to complete heavily bonused, past the deadline shops (which i did immediately and correctly) and then i get this kind of petty retaliation for asking for $2. I dunno, i am doing the cheap web shops cause i have an old dog i just can't leave alone right now and I am crabby and feeling a little petty myself. I guess i just needed to rant a bit, thanks.

Have you tried using a different browser to see if the used inventory pages come up ? It's happened to me before and I tried a different browser and it worked. Safari to chrome or vice versa, I don't remember exactly.
Thanks but i assume they must have tried as well before sending me to the new locations. Since i won't have anymore shops to complete it really doesn't matter. Wow, throw me a pity party....sorry, i do thank you for your advice.
I don't know if they tried, but I would still try it now for future reference just to see if it was my browser. It takes almost as much time as writing a response here.

If a different browser works, then I would write and apologize. It doesn't hurt.

BTW - I personally would not have asked for a bonus. With the web/phone shops, sometimes it takes me 5 minutes for the whole shop and sometimes it takes over 30 minutes.
The shop should have ended after the "0 Inventory" message appeared. It is neither your fault nor the MSC's that the dealership did not have the website updated with their current inventory. The client clearly wants to know what sort of experience customers have when searching for vehicles online and not finding anything is the experience that you had.

I understand the scheduler wanting to make sure you were on the "right" website, so I would have humored him/her by using the link provided, just to verify. However, thereafter, the MSC should be pushing your report through with a "Website does not show any inventory online. Internet vehicle inquiries are not possible." message.

You should be paid your $5 and be done. Asking for a bonus (even a measly $2) is not a good move. You can the MSC have an agreement. You visit one website and report on it. They pay you $5.

As for the removal of the shops, I would not be surprised at all if the MSC went to the client and said, "Your websites are insufficient and not allowing our shoppers to complete the task we have contracted for them to do." The client then could have put the project on hold until they have their act together.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Thanks, you are very right. I should have handled the problem differently, it just wasn't a good day. I did just check the site with a different browser and got the same message, zero inventory, thanks anyways. I had been feeling resentful and hard done by but your support and comments have straightened my thinking out. I appreciate it.
I do not think that it was a problem asking for more $. I do agree that it should have stopped with the 1st one since that was your experience. That is the whole point of doing the shop.
First, I am so sorry about your best dog friend. Our pets are our familysmiling smiley As for your unfortunate shop...chalk it up and remember who provides you with the "correct tools and information" you need to complete a shop. I went through almost the same scenario and unfortunately, I do not perform shops for them anymore. Oh, and venting is good medicine!!! Take Care
