New Shopper in PA

Hello all; wasn't sure if this was the best place to post or if the New Shopper area would've been better. I am a relatively new shopper in PA and have done a few shops for a couple companies. I had been reading through some of the posts here, and am getting a little nervous since I see that some of the companies I have shopped for (but not yet received payment) are getting some negative reviews. Was wondering if anyone could post which companies are good to shop for (reliable, good pay, etc) and which ones to stay away from? I'd appreciate any guidance and advice from other shoppers. Thank you all!

welcome, married,
Your best bet is to read, read and read some more. Different folks like different companies for a lot of reasons, so it'salways a good thing to read many entries on the thread about a given company. It will be an investment that pays off.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Keep in mind that opinions regarding companies vary widely (and wildly) EXCEPT where it comes to paying when payment is due. There have been ongoing issues with payments from Freeman Group--which supposedly are being set right but time will tell; Direct Scheduling Services (DSS) which I don't even know if they are still doing scheduling or shops; Goodwin, which may be cleaning up its act etc.

There are companies that pay very slowly, but still within their stated parameters. Habitually the last I see payment from include Service Check, Service Sleuth, Intellishop, but they still pay within their stated times. I had an issue with Informa about a November payment the other day that the delay is due to a late 'published' date, so I should see payment within the next week or so (no fault of mine but rather apparently an issue with the client). When a payment cycle is not met, I usually am on the phone fairly quickly to see why--but you have to go by THEIR SCHEDULE, not by what they usually do, before you start demanding payment.

Most companies are quite good about paying within the time frame they state.

Primarily the York and Hanover area. Not a big metro area, so shops arent as frequent as I would like. I am going through and signing up with a lot of companies in the hopes to expand my list of available shops. The list on this forum has been a huge help. Its just frustrating, since many times I don't know until I've already filled out the application and gotten access to the job board whether or not the company has shops in my area. One of the downsides of the business I guess.
I have been enjoying it so far. Sometimes learning the hard way. Took a $7 shop to "get my feet wet" with a company, and the amount of things I had to observe was crazy (of course you dont know this until you get approved for the shop) and the report was more than 60 questions. With narratives. I spent about 2 hours on that shop LOL.
looks like www.bestmark.com is your best bet they have a bunch... also www.jobslinger.com is listing a ton too... you shouldnt have a problem... if you are uncomfortable with jobslinger most of the shops that i see are from CORI
www.mysteryshops.com

so in sum

www.mysteryshops.com

I've shopped five years. They've always had low-paying shops, even when the economy was good.
