Out Of Area Postings

More and more I get job postings for shops out-of-area, really out-of-area, including a different state.
I attribute this to sheer laziness on the part of the scheduler. "Let's just send to ALL shoppers." It's annoying. My feeling is that if I'm planning to go out-of-area, I can search for potential shops on my own.
Thoughts?

Depends on the job. If it's for an $8 phone shop I'm not interested. If it's for a simple $10 gas station shop that I didn't know existed love it.

Some people travel, some don't. Schedulers have no clue which you are.

I would like to think that it is simply that, grif. Sometimes I'm not convinced. I get a lot of emails for way-out-of-the-way places.

I wish some schedulers would come here and post their reason for emailing shoppers who live nowhere near the shop. Is it simply reaching out to shoppers who do routes and travel??? Or, is it sometimes a scheduler does indeed just click "send to all"???
So maybe I do not live in the land of yon orphan shop 2,000 miles from home. But I might know someone who lives closer to it or will travel to it. In that scenario, I might refer someone to the MSC and the assignment.

I have twice now been contacted by MSCs about particular shops in areas far away. Both times I knew shoppers that also weren't from there but were there at the time. I think both times my friends got $90 for a 10 minute super easy shop.

Three times in my four years at Shoppers' View, I have accidentally sent out a posting to the entire country (US). I was horrified, and I received many annoyed replies. All I could do was apologize. Edited to add: it is an easy mistake to make on SASSIE. It's just clicking the incorrect option on a drop-down menu.

I got one this morning offering shops near me but the closest was over a thousand miles away. I guess the states are supposed to be extra close together on the west coast :-) Someone also regularly sends me MD shops because maybe they think Washington State and Washington, DC are one and the same?
It's even worse when you're on the other side of the border! And by the way, what the heck is Taco John's??? I keep getting postings for those and I don't think we have them here in Canada.

Oddly enough, it's from MSCs that use Sassie that seem to have a penchant for this....at least in my mail Inbox! So that may be why....they aren't taking that extra second to click on the correct drop-down choice, perhaps. Thanks for explaining that, SVC!

I don't believe I have ever emailed the whole country, but it really can happen by accident. For airport shops, I will email the whole state (when it isn't CA). That's because SASSIE will automatically go out up to 50 miles as a last resort, but someone could be traveling to the airport that day from a little further out.

If these emails are always from the same schedulers asking about shops 2,000 miles away, my guess is that they were not trained properly.
Some schedulwrs have no clue about geography. I was speaking on the phone with one scheduling a shop in CA and was asked if I could do a shop in CO on the same day since "you'll be that way anyway."
My thought is this - if I'm going to travel, I'll check for shops in that location. I actually believe Schedulers simply hit "ALL" shoppers. I am annoyed. Please, Schedulers, let me chose and stop sending me shops across the country. Thanks

Well, I live in Nebraska, abbreviation NE.

I do believe some schedulers believe that "NE" means "North East".
