All good! Easy to work with, easy to contact by phone or email, reasonable fees and reports. Just don't forget to make your invoice at the end of the month or you'll be wondering why you didn't get paid winking smiley

I've completed the STEP levels and get offered a wide variety of assignments. They're worth doing if you're in a market with many shoppers.
NTLShopper...congrats...I know the 9 steps are difficult to finish. I like the company, and have done the 1/2 off hotels for them. I forgot to finish the steps, think I'm on five. They have some good clients.

I applied to them a while back but never heard anything. Is there some trick to getting accepted by them?
You need to complete the 9 steps before being accepted as a shopper, you can however, do the 1/2 off hotels without doing the steps.

Actually you don't start completing the steps until after you've been accepted as a shopper. You don't have to complete them all either, but if you don't you might not be eligible for some of the better restaurant and hotel assignments.
You definitely do not get the better assignments without completing the steps, so, what's the point of getting accepted of you can't get the good shops? Being this is a Canadian Co., they only have hotel shops here in CA, not just normal shops.

SQM used to have some national USA chains - and some of them were decent enough to be worthwhile. When they had more stuff, one was able to get decent things as a Step 0 shopper. From time to time, they will get a hotel that is hard to fill and that will go to a non-stepped person (I got a 2 night hotel stay in Raleigh NC as a Step 0 shopper once) but this is rare.

That said... the Step levels are fun! I know I spent one week battling the flu and staying home and I worked my way through them to Step level 8 (I never did pass 9). Okay, maybe not FUN... but at least they have personality. That is one thing that I really appreciate about MSCs is those that have some personality - and SQM has that in Spades.
Personality with meaning....they also have flights from everywhere to Toronto, have been thinking about it, but since I can't do their hotels, it would be out of pocket and a big cost. Guess I better pull it together and continue my fest to get through the steps, lots of trick question .....oh dear!!

As others have said, the order is:

1. Get accepted as a shopper.
2. Complete the steps.
3. Get great assignments.

I'm done with all steps, but still have not shopped for this company. I think I just enjoyed the challenge of doing all of the steps.
I have been accepted, but not finished the steps, therefore not getting their great hotel assignments. Kudo's to you for finishing the steps.

Well, I have to say...I don't see a huge number of great assignments, so you may not be missing much.
Good, Jan. hasn't been as great as other months, I do check to see if it's worth doing the steps, so far it isn't. They have mostly flight to Toronto here.

I had been trying to get in with them for a while. Then they got something in my market, and I was in like flynn without any steps, more like, "can you do this next week?" It was So Cal and had no steps attached, and it was fully reimbursed. I guess it differs about if you fit the profile for the client, and how many of you they have that also do in the area.
Well well, just got email from SQM asking to do a job (did not finish steps), but not able due to distance...it's not a hotel.
