ATH Spam on Presto

Anyone else annoyed by the saturation of ATH jobs, all concentrated around the same location, on the Presto job board? It’s impossible to sift through.

I have no idea what you're talking about. No saturation here, and if there, um, was any, I would snap up every one I qualified for.

(I used the "um" because I'm not sure, grammarily, if it's "was" or "were" ).

Cease, they are all credit card opening shops where you have to make a large purchase. Some locations don't sell anything in the $200 price range (motorcycle dealerships, tractors, etc.). Also other shoppers had problems with returns at these places (restocking fee). Another shopper didn't realize it was a particular bank card being shopped. The store didn't carry that bank's card and they purchased using the store's suggested financing. Their shop was rejected. Too much of a headache and hassle. These shops have been around for a long time. I'm not snapping.
I have the same problem. So many locations in my area, all of which have 8 different types of assignments. It's like this on JobSlinger, too, but even more annoying because they're reposted as 'new' assignments every day. So even when I look for new listings, it's just the same 50 bank shops over and over again.
Then how come it FEELS wrong?

It was saturated. There was saturation. The saturation point was X+Y.

I know it has something to do with the "were" and a question or an "if", but I'm hazy, really hazy.

"Were" is the correct word.
Because there wasn't any saturation (for you), it is "if there were".

Copied and pasted from the "Writing Explained" blog:

"These words are used differently in sentences, so it’s important to know when to use were vs. was. Was is used in the first and third person singular past. It is used for statements of fact. Were is used in the second person singular and plural and first and third person plural. It is used in the subjunctive mood to indicate unreal or hypothetical statements. The words if and wish usually indicate the subjunctive mood."
Just so you know, I wouldn't have corrected you. I only pointed it out because you made note of it.
Ah ha, that dreadful subjunctive!!!

(I actually don't mind being corrected. Unless, of course, the corrector is wrong.
ME: "May I have a glass of water?"
HOST: "Sure. My, you drink a lot of water."
ME: "I've drunk three glasses of water this year, all right here at your house."
HOST: "DRUNK? Are you DRUNK? You've DRANK three glasses of water. I'm so shocked at you! I thought you knew better. It's "DRANK", you have DRANK three glasses!!!"
ME: Shakes head sadly; departs

Guess I'll go sit in that boat that is sank in her pool.)
They have had the same four jobs posted in my area for months. Two are inquiries, two require account approval. I live in a very rural area, and I know the pay isn't enough to get the urban shoppers up here. I applied to do the inquiries (after completing the shop cert on ATH) and I was turned down, which is fine - they were jobs I could do while I was running errands, no biggie, but every day they spam me with those listings, update them on presto and jobslinger as if they're new, and don't raise the price. I'm starting to wonder if they're just trying to make it look like they have more jobs available than they actually do.
Not spam but I wish there was a way on Presto to filter the search results to hide all of their shops. It is difficult to see the other MSC’s shops that interest me.
Ath posted that credit card opening today for that particular bank at a high-end furniture store with a $200 purchase. A typical piece of furniture at this store runs into the thousands. You can buy a pillow for $100+ or perhaps a vase or throw rug. However, it's hard to tell if these items are in store or can only be ordered online.
My presto board is always saturated with ath shops. It's so bad, I don't use them.

Hey, Insta-Shoppers! If you're seeing shops you aren't interested in, we have a new feature that may help you (released just today!). You probably know already that you can type in a word or phrase ("banking" "restaurant" etc.) to filter the map to ONLY show shops with those words - but now we have a HIDE FROM RESULTS option to remove those shops from your results!

To see this in action, take a look at a short movie at [www.screencast.com], which shows a desktop view, and [www.screencast.com], which shows a screenshot from the Presto app (both examples filter OUT any shops with the word "valet"winking smiley. To use this feature:

On a computer:

1. Type in the text that you want to filter out
2. Check the "hide from results" checkbox

In the app:

1. Click the List tab at the top of the screen
2. Type in the text that you want to filter out
3. Check the "hide from results checkbox
4. (opt) click the Map tab to go back to the map with the matching results filtered out

We hope that this will help you in your Insta-Shopping and make the map more useful!

Ath used to be great with teller, deposit , withdrawal, drive-thru, easy 3 minute shops. The shops now are too time consuming and not paying enough.
The filter works if you know the exact keywords used for the shop listings.

When I enter all possible words like "bank checking mortgage banking credit financial" it usually weeds out the ath shops.

So depending on the geographical location, I do agree that presto is overloaded with ath shops. And other MSC listings suffer because of it. Presto is like an ocean of ath shops and the other's are just small drops of water in that big ocean.

I've seriously considered deleting the app because of the "spam" listings from ath.

I have seen them and wondered if the particular stores would really take back the merchandise. And the pay confuses me! Are they paying you $200 to spend over $200 financed on the bank's card, so you get basically a "free" item if it's only $200, but otherwise you just added some debt, an item you probably don't want or need, and the difficulty and hassle of trying to return the item?

I've seen a lot of them in our neck of the woods!

If you spend exactly $200, you would get it for free. Anything over that, it is your dollar, so if you keep the item, it better be something that you want. So as I see it, this shop works best if you want to buy a new faucet from Acme Plumbing (for instance; not a real company that I am aware of) and it costs $375, so you end up with a huge discount. If you are planning on returning the item you buy, be sure that you understand the return policy. They don't pay restocking fees, so that comes out of the $200. You have to keep the item long enough for it to appear on a credit card statement.

Why can't we just enter the name of the company, companies that we do not want to see? I mean I can only get so many oil changes a year and I am too old for tobacco shops, or ID card chops. So what do I care? But blocking out some of the companies that have one type of shop could also mean missing out on other shops that they have.
