The source asking for Id

I accepted two jobs with The source and it says that I have to upload a photo id. I have signed up with a couple other companies and none of them have asked for an identification. Is this a trustworthy company? I just don't know if to be worried that a company I barely know has so much of my personal information.

This may be a new thing, but they already have your bank account, and maybe a background check....they are a reliable company and pay twice a month like clockwork. I have uploaded my pic for the bar loss prevention job I do....sometimes the client wants to know what you look like in case they need to identify you.

I have done shops forThe Source for years. they are very reliable and trustworthy. Some of their shops require a background check and a photo ID, some just a photo ID. Requiring a photo ID seems to be a growing trend. Several recent shops that I did for ath Power required that I upload my drivers license. There have been others as well.

They are now asking for a drivers license or State ID card for identification when a new shop signs up. I did not have to provide it because I signed up years ago. I recommended Source to a friend. When she signed up, I was with her at her computer and one of the requirements is now the ID in order to take the first assignment. They still do not require that you input your SS# or Tax ID# until you earn $600, when they are required to report your income. They are very reliable. Sometimes I work for them a lot - like when they had the pizza shops a couple of years ago - but mostly I don't because they don't have shops I really want to do and don't pay much. But I've always enjoyed working with them. myst is right; a lot of companies are starting to ask for photo ID.

Asking for ID seems to be a growing trend. I stopped shopping for these companies. They already have so much of our personal info and pay us so minimal. It's not worth to give out all my info to companies I never met in person. Plus data breach is like a norm. I won't shop for any companies more than $600/yr and won't claim tax. It just doesn't make sense to give them my ID. I told them if they can't find shopper and need me, I can help. Just lift off the requirement to submit ID and I'll do it.

Other companies ask for a copy of your drivers license. So, this is no different. They are reliable and legit. If you do any inspections with them, you have to have a background check.

New Flash - Ath Power got hacked earlier this year and the hacker 'stole' all the shopper info. Beware of any company asking for your ID to be uploaded. The slope gets slipperier the further you go down it...first your personal information, SSN, then bank account....I was hacked twice in the last ten years via MSC's...hey, it just happens in today' world, so be careful!

That's scary. This is one reason why I am hesitant to sign up with a lot of mystery shopping companies. The more companies you sign up with, the chances of something like that happening multiplies. There are two or three companies that I have joined and have never done any work with them. I kinda wish I had limited the companies I joined to about 5. Those 5 companies provide enough work. I really did not need to join more. Another thing about these mystery shop applications. Often they ask you what which banks you have accounts with. So now they have all your personal info, and banking info. Makes the evil doers job easier.
