Companies you REFUSE to Shop For

I did wonder about that . . . this is the same company that tells you they are going to put a "fake" question on their questionairres to make sure you are telling the truth. My guess is that this is why a certain baby store shop for the same company asks you what color the registry paper was.

That's a whole 'nother topic, but I really wonder how many scamming mystery shoppers there are out there? I did another shop yesterday that asked me if I had done a geolocation (I have the app on my phone but didn't realize they were going to ask for it--I'm like, "can my Foursquare check-in count?"winking smiley and it strikes me that this must be a bigger problem than I realize . . . I don't know how people can really do that and not be found out, but who knows.

I have that ap on my htc sensation, but it's usually not kept as up to date as my penciled in calendar is. I did a shop that said, "Oops, you forgot to geo check in."Yeah, I felt like, My yelp account would do the same. My 27 mall checkins weren't during mystery shopping. I never consider a mystery shop a checkin, if so, I'd be duchess everywhere.

I would love to record the shop and send that into the scheduler. I will avoid that shop, especially after reading about it on this forum!

Rhonlynn - were the calls made through Vocalzilla?

As to the legality of recorded phone calls, it's tricky business. Most of the time when you call places, especially call centers with phone tree options, there is a recording that says your call may be monitored or recorded for quality control and/or training purposes.

Those who work for companies which utilize shoppers for this kind of recorded shop usually tell the employees and have them sign off on something when hired. There are actually some states where you can legally record conversations without the other party's knowledge or permission. Some states only require one party's permission, and some require permission from both parties. See [www.rcfp.org]

If you report the truth of no music, they won't pay? Wow....

I don't know if it was Vocalzilla. I was so nervous, and I could tell the girl on the phone was nervous...I don't mess up bank shops, or narratives. But I did that one.
Another company I refuse to shop for is Global Compliance; the ones who bought Service Intelligence (SI). Their customer service was just as bad years ago before they bought SI. They had shops that paid really well and were easy to do, but if I had a question or problem, they NEVER got back to me and it was always one thing after another when something was completed correctly.

But those of you who down Market Force (formerly Shop 'N Chek), I love working with them because their reports are easy and fast. They may not pay a lot, but some of the new companies they've contracted with, I shopped them with other companies and the pay was the same but the reports were way too long and drawn out!!! I also wait on some on their dine-in/drive-thru shops that are close to me and pick them up when they're bonused. So, I will stay with Market Force until they don't have shops to do.

With Vocalzilla, you use your regular phone and call a toll-free number, then follow the voice prompts to enter two numeric codes. The voice reads the numbers back to you for verification, then tells you the call will be recorded. When you open the shop report, you will see the recording file and may listen to and/or download it.

4Service is a Ukrainian MSC which has a lot of activities in Russia (where I live), or so it seems from how aggressively it tries to recruit shoppers here. I did a few restaurants and computer shops for it in 2008 and they never paid me although my reports were accepted, rated and praised. These folks in Kiyv owe me about 150 dollars and I have stopped pursuing them for some time now. But they still spam my inbox with offers to shop again!
It was close to Vocalzilla. I hit the button to call the bank. It dialed the bank number, then I typed in a pin number.
One of the companies I wouldn't work for is Market Force. I did movie previews with them. They made my life a living hell. I didn't appreciate being called at the last minute to do these shops. But also I thought my time and energy was worth more than what they gave me. Another company I'm thinking of terminating is Kss, I haven't actually done any work for them yet. Although I've been trying, they just don't seem to want to work with me. I'm also shopping with Mystery Shopping Canada, I think they're trying to get rid of me. I haven't received an e-mails from them in the past month. When I sent them an e-mail to try to fix the problem. The girl editing the reports expected way too much from me. She expected me to cut and copy on my reports and I have no idea how to do that. Also the reports are a five hundred word essay on 5 minutes of work.

Service Evaluation Concepts...
Even though the pay may be tempting, I suggest to stay away from this company.
They don't answer emails, don't reimburse parking (after having received the proper documentation and saying they would) and are extremely rude.
I did a shop for them and was patiently waiting for my payment (because I had read they took a while in submitting the money). After waiting for 9 months I decided it was time to request it.
Instead of receiving an apology, I had this rude representative suggest I was lying, because I had taken too long to inform them!
Yes, that website is legit. Secret Shopper is also known as Sights on Service (a former name, I believe). They are a decent company to work with though they have limited shops available. Their most annoying 'feature' is that once a shop is accepted you can sign up on a 'Waiting List'. It is a bit bizarre to see shops you have accepted and performed and had accepted/graded still sit collecting a waiting list on their board until the end of the month (or longer). On the other hand, if you missed the shop it at least lets you see what is/was available in your market. They do post a date when they expect the next round of shops to post.
