IPSOS 1099s

Has anyone gotten their 1099s from IPSOS yet, OR are they by chance available online anywhere? I've looked, but if they are there, they are eluding me... these two are the only ones standing between us and filing smiling smiley

Haven't gotten mine, but you can tell the amount simply by printing out each pay period's receipt. I'm shy SEVERAL 1099s and even my W-2 hasn't shown up.

I got my 1099 from Ipsos today and I am baffled. It looks like they included all the comps for the shipping costs in my income. It is about double what I actually made in fees. Have you had this happen? This is crazy since I wouldn't have shipped the packages otherwise so it was not a "benefit".
I got my 1099 from IPSOS today and I am baffled. The income reported is almost double what I was paid in shop fees. I can only guess they included the shipping costs. But the shipping costs are not a benefit for me, I mail a box of garbage to another shopper. If I have to report all of this to the IRS it will be horrible. Has anyone seen their 1099 yet?

You do use a schedule C when reporting, right? That is where you deduct expenses. Reimbursements are not taxable, although many MSCs do include them on the 1099s.
I got mine today and was not happy to see they included all the shipping reimbursements as income.
I was thinking the same thing. They did something similar a few years ago then sent a new one with corrections maybe we'll get lucky and that will happen again.

I think they did that last year, too then sent a revised 1099 with fees only. I could be mis-remembering, though.

I know it will be a hassle but if worst comes to worst, include the gross income on schedule C and then add up all the reimbursements and subtract as an expense. Don't just subtract the reimbursement from the total Other Compensation and report the net. If you report less than the the total of your 1099s as income, your return will be kicked out for the IRS to at least review and possible audit.
I do this for all of my revenue and all of my expenses. They are separate on my spreadsheet, so this is easy. There is then no need to worry about whether a 1099 form includes reimbursement or not. Not everyone on this Forum does it this way, but everyone agrees (I think) that it is one of several acceptable-to-the IRS ways.

Haven't gotten my first one yet...I wish MSCs could put these online for us...would be so much easier smiling smiley Our pay statements are online, it doesn't seem that much of a stretch to add the yearly tax statement...

Thanks. Good to know. Why did they come (well, mine hasn't yet) combined in the first place? Seems like a simple setup to separate them. Just an oversight?

Sorry, I hate to (respectfully) disagree.

It is OUR job to keep our records.

Technically, you don't even need your 1099's to file. As long as you report the income properly (because you keep good records), you'll be fine. smiling smiley

I have my records...and I opened every pay statement from IPSOS and reconciled them, so I know that they *should* be reporting...but I will not be filing my taxes until I have that 1099 in hand. If I file, and my reported income doesn't match what THEY report, my refund will be delayed, and I could be audited...I would never deliberately risk that. So, until I have a correct 1099 in hand, I'm stuck. Literally the only two pieces of paper standing between me and a fairly sizeable refund.
And.. we received our IPSOS 1099s today...they appear to be correct. These numbers match my shop fees...I don't have one from the Sassie side yet...has anyone gotten those, or do you know anything about those? If they were combined, I'm going to be completely confused, lol
The reason you need the 1099s to to compare to your records before your return is filed. If the MSC made a mistake on the 1099 you need a corrected 1099 filed with the IRS. There is a MSC in Canada who reports earning based on a date other than date paid. When I discovered the problem last year (for 2018) I couldn't tell if it was the day of the job, the date it was reviewed or the date the invoice went to the client and I didn't have all the information to determine.

I got mine yesterday but an email today said it was wrong and would resend it soon. They did the same thing last year. They added some items that were not taxable.
Does anyone know about the Sassie / Shopmetrics issue? Are there two separate 1099s for the two divisions?
Mouse, I understand your situation perfectly, and sympathize with your reluctance to file incorrectly.

Dealing with the IRS, safe is ALWAYS better than sorry.

I, however, am perfectly comfortable with reporting my income from my records, and shall continue to do so. I look at the 1099's as merely "supporting documentation". Handy, but not required.

Even if a 1099 is incorrect, my reported income IS correct.

If I am ever audited, I know my records will support my reported income -- to the penny, literally.

After all, I work for many companies each year that I complete only 1-4 shops for. No way am I receiving 1099's that cover my reported income.

You see, I properly report all the income I received from those companies, too.

"Coming out" where? Your email said they'll be sent via email. I haven't received anything.

They're emailing them.

Again - can anyone tell me about the Sassie side of things? Are we getting separate 1099s for those, and if so, has anyone received one yet?
My understanding was the snafu was only on the shopmetrics side. I received paper copies for both sides, and a corrected shopmetrtics 1099 via email early this morning.

I'm a mild neurotic who occasionally has something to say.

Where do you find them? I don't see them online anywhere!
