Stericycle out of business

I just received the email that many of us were predicting.

We communicated with you recently regarding the inaccessibility of the mystery shop service and system. After evaluating our options to reestablish the service, we have unfortunately made the difficult decision to discontinue mystery shopping services at this time. As a result of this decision, we will no longer be posting any mystery shop visits.

We appreciate your past support of the mystery shopping service and wish you all the best.

An email went out a little while ago. They decided to not do anymore mystery shopping.
Heavy sigh... I'm sad.

They never accepted my applications, but I know they were popular... Did they have very many clients left? (No names, please: I'm just wondering if we are about to see other MSC's pick up the business.)

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I wonder what happens with all our personal data once a company like this goes out of business.

I'm actually sick over it.

Things will look up, I promise. Just give it time.
I'm surprised they haven't closed earlier. The only reason they were still open is because they were stuck in a long term contract with the gas client. I guess they finally figured buying themselves out of it was cheaper.

I agree as far as I know they only did shopping for that one gas client anymore. I do feel sorry for the shoppers who did a bunch of these and made good money. This however should not be a devastating blow to anyone. If you are only shopping even part-time for just one MSC and they only shop one place that is called putting all your eggs in one basket. Diversify Diversify Diversify. Sign up with as many MSCs as possible but at least 25.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

There were about 100 stations within a 50 mile radius of me. In my area, this brand is all over. Add in that they were done monthly and you could get hold out on waiting for these jobs until they hit $10 a shop at least then there was alot of potential money sitting right there.
I'm sure the client will move to a new MSC. Everything is going to be fine, just fill in with something else for the time being.
Stericycle is not going out of business. They are merely discontinuing their mystery shopping program. That is a very large company and they do a LOT more than mystery shopping. I think I only did 1-2 shops for them ever, but I have been working on their other projects for over 13 years.
As everyone's most loved editor from this company, can I just say I feel the same way. I will miss working with all of you.
I would not be surprised if the gas company does not want to be mystery shopped anymore. In my experience, the reports never did any good. There have been about 20 locations in and around my area and, year by year, most of them stopped getting shopped. I was down to about 6. And, year after year, they stayed just as scuzzy as they ever were.
This is very true, however, in my area there are several brand new locations. I would think they would want those investments to be protected.

I didn't really see that in my area. Heck, i've driven by a station that I shopped the week prior and reported rusty bollards and saw them painting the bollards as I drove by. It's probably going to be awhile before they resurface somewhere else, if they do at all. They still have negotiate with someone and then set up the whole program, then the new MSC, if applicable, has to do a lot of work on their end for the new client. I'd love to see them go revealed audit, personally.

You were making 60 cents a report?

I never did any mystery shopping with them either.
Just merchandising ,etc. type jobs.
I just did a couple of merchandising jobs last week for them.
I so missed their food shop. My co-workers were so jealous when they heard what I had for lunch. Never did a gas station shop and never will.
