Service Check

signed up with this company many months ago and just got my 1st email for a guitar shop. Has anyone worked for them before? Any input would be great!!! I know they are on the sassie system.

Shops in PA for them are few and far between. I've had success with them in the past. Go for it.
See the recent discussions link beneath your post. Yes, I have worked for them and been pleased with the relationship. Evidently some folks have issues with their narrative requirements, but all of the shops I have done have had a sample of what is expected displayed right above the narrative block. The last shop I did for them was paid in about 6 weeks. They are, for me, one of the lovely companies that you never hear from except the email announcing the job and the email saying the money has been sent to you through PayPal. They don't spam me daily (or multiple times per day) with the same job nobody wants. They don't send out pleading emails with no bonus attached. In all the jobs I have done for them there has been only one that they asked more information in the narrative--which frankly I had forgotten to mention though it is specific in the instructions that you must mention it whether the answer is yes or no. Their fees are nothing to write home about but they aren't really low. Their clients have moderate interest with the occasional shining light.
How long would you think that reports would be. It just drives me crazy when the reports take longer than the time driving, being at the locaton, and all the yes and no narrative's. It is a good fee for the shop in my location. But do not want to spend more time on the report that takes longer on the shop. Plus I would have to evaluate the conversation.
That is really hard to say. I find narrative quick and easy to write up. I find most shops are in a reasonably logical progression in the observations they ask about, so the narratives are in a logical progression as well. I type about as fast as I think of what I want to say. Having a sample I actually find is a distraction, but it is there to make sure you cover everything required to be covered and it does give you an idea of the level of detail desired. I have never found the ServiceCheck jobs to be a rip off in their requirements vs fee. I find that most reports with any company take longer than the shop. I have to laugh at a 2 minute phone shop taking 5-7 minutes or more to report. Familiarity with a report always makes it faster, but I don't remember even the initial round with ServiceCheck shops being problematic.
I've never really timed my reports, if the pay is decent and I'm in the area, I just do the report. There are times when I just don't mind spending time on a report, what's another 10 minutes in the big scheme of things...if I had to analize all this stuff, I wouldn't do it. I just did a long narrative for SC and since there was only one narrative at the end, I got into it and rather enjoyed it.

+1

I'd rather write one long narrative vs the 10 "3-5 sentence" narratives on other reports. Once you get into writing it, it just starts to flow.

And I have done the music store shop. Quick and painless, but unless you're a musician, I wouldn't recommend doing it too often. Music stores tend to attract a very specific clientele, and there are only so many times you can use the "I'm buying this as a gift for xyz" before you'll become memorable.
Agreed the music store is a worthwhile shop, but not a good fit if you don't need strings, picks or straps.
They have many different locations in L.A., so the speel can be used many times...I enjoyed this shop, and since my daughter is heavily into music for years, I do know about keyboards and such, found it easy and yes, I'd rather do one longer narrative than some of the repentitive shorter narratives most MSC's require. You do need music experience to do this job, or a family member to tag along that knows music. We have had piano and drums in our life forever (while married).

I do like that with their narrative for that shop. Just a few questions and then one recap. I always feel like I am repeating myself with other narratives.
I just finished an oil change with narratives up the ying yang, talk about repetitive, they even say they know it is repetivite, but is required, hated that report, $34.99 oil change that quickly totals 38.25....charge for disposal fee they forgot to tell you about. No profit on that one, did get a car wash. They also give out 8.00 coupons online which can't be used. Different MSC, sorry, same first name.
