I do sometimes take a base pay or smaller bonus IF it is in a location I am already going. Otherwise I will wait them out and do 10-15 per day on several different routes for 10-15 days per month. I use Rakuten for hotels through Priceline, use a cash back credit card for all shops and expenses. I also will go to bordering states for the right money. I also don’t commit my route to one MSC or one client. If I’m going to an area not near my home I will call or email all schedulers and say “I’m going to AR the weeks of _______ do you have any shops?” So I usually get my meals and sometimes hotel through shops. It just takes having good relationships with schedulers and being known as a good reliable shopper. If it makes you feel better then send the letter. I think waiting them out is a better strategy.
