Does anyone work for Restaurant Evaluators?

I have read many negative reviews about their payment or lack of payment, but those all seem to be old. I signed up with them before I read the reviews and almost immediately after my sign up I received an email for a shop at a chain that I really like. I was hoping that someone could give me some recent feedback. I don't want to not be paid or wait forever for the payment. Wondering whether I should just skip it or take a chance. TIA

I gather that it is still taking 3 or 4 months or more to get paid and that is with being a "squeaky wheel". The mere fact that a shop was "almost immediately" offered to you at a chain you (and probably lots of other shoppers) like, speaks volumes.

IF it was a place I would dine on my own dime, I would figure that non-payment would not be catastrophic. I would make a note on my spreadsheet when I accepted the job of the scheduler's phone number and email address and a note of when I am supposed to be paid (ask for the pay schedule from the scheduler up front so you have it in writing as an email). I would then accept and perform the job with the anticipation that down the road I will need to send virtually daily demands for payment.

IF it is a place I would sort of like to try, I wouldn't bother doing the shop.
So, has anyone done anything for them recently that would share with us?

Flash, thanks so much for your response. I appreciate the feedback and advice. I think I will take a pass. Life is too short to chase down payment for a meal and doing a report. Slow payment I can handle, no payment is not as acceptable.

Check some of the other forums out there. The indications are that the problems persist. Not all of the forums sounded the warning as loudly as this one and we haven't had any folks comment recently on RE getting their act together OR having to chase down payments for work performed.

My personal reaction is that they are not ready for me to work with them yet (if ever again).
Just do a search for "Restaurant Evaluators" in Google and you will see recent complaints many places about them not paying shops that are more than 6 months out, including Yelp. It's not just limited to shopper boards, since I think they have burned through most of the savvy shoppers.

Even if they someday got their act together, why would anyone choose to involve themselves with such a shady company?

Good question. On that same note, why do so many people want to involve themselves with Certified? Same type of shady company.
I agree. Why bother if you have to spend all that time chasing after payment. I learned my lesson with mystique. If you read that a company is taking sixty plus days to pay their bill, why bother; we are mystery shoppers not a lending institution.
I'm with you, kittybratt. Mystique was the first company from whom I had to chase down payment. Well, it might be a tie, actually, between Mystique and Goodwin.
I'm in Atlanta and did a high end job for Restaurant Evaluators at end of March. They specifically told me I'd be re-imbursed in 30 days, and if not to submit a trouble ticket under the contact menu. Guess what? There is no link to submit a trouble ticket, and no one answers the phone, returns calls, or responds to emails. If the bill wasn't $100, and if it didn't take me 4 hours to complete their detailed report, I would write it off. I'll give it a few more weeks, and then will submit claim to attorney general or FTC.

I, too, received a job offer (Oct 2010) immediately after registering. I had the scheduler's ph # and email. After many left messages and unanswered emails, I was finally paid after 6 mos. I will NEVER work for them again. I work for 15 different companies and have never had a problem except for Restaurant Evaluators.
I honestly feel like it would ba fair to contact the client at this point. they broke their agreement with you so you should be allowed to do the same..if it's been months with no payment.

I have done several shops for them, the last one was in January 2011. They never pay on time. There is always openings because they cant keep people. I would avoid them at all cost. They are by far the worst company i have ever dealt with. They have a horrible record with BBB and they are not a part of MSPA because of their record.
I'm not sure that being a horrible MSP with a lousey records keeps a company from MSPA membership. Look over their roster some time.
I contacted __them today. Someone answered, took my info and said someone would email me after looking into it. I did this job in November. $42.00 for cupcakes. Too much to write off.
I think that they are out of business. They have no shops available in the entire country. They do not respond to emails and nobody answers their phones. They owe me over $160. I guess that I will need to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
I went over there a couple of days ago & was told that they only receive messages at the location at 500 N. Michigan. Restaurant Evaluators is the scum of the earth.
