Wow, Ipsos, just...wow.

I attempted a shop at a location that doesn't exist. It was at a mall and took me 30 minutes to track it down. I submitted proof of the closure. Their response was, "Thank you for proving that this location is closed/no longer at the listed address and you will be paid $1.00 for the proof."

One. Dollar. Really?

Yikes. Even the "apps" that are generally low paying have paid me more than that for a closed location. What was the agreed upon fee for the shop, if it was open?
If it is their food shop i have gotten $2 when I can't order, such as on the app etc.
WOW, that is bad.. for most of their shops it's $2 or half of the shop pay.

Was there not a way to call ahead? If I am going to a location I'm unsure of, I'm certainly not going to spend time like that. I would rather call mall security and ask about the location or even the leasing office at the mall. They should have information and save you the pain in the future. I agree that $1 is a BS payment, but some of this pain could have been avoided.
Reread the guidelines. Every shop I have completed for them clearly states that fee for closed location is 50% of regular fee or $10.00 whichever is greater. Perhaps they just got the decimal point wrong on putting you in for $1.00 rather than $10.00.
We spend just as much time preparing for and going to closed locations as we do open ones. Sometimes reports are more difficult because there is much explaining to be done. If the MSC's clients don't even know whether their stores exist, that's not our fault. I wonder if the MSCs get only a fractional fee in these cases. Highly doubtful.
And even though you proved it was closed/didn't exist, it will probably be re-posted next month for someone else to experience what you did.
Once upon a time.... A different MSC sent me to the same location to take the same picutre of the closed location month after month. Over a year. Their policy was full pay for closed shops. Easy peasy. To be fair, I never asked for a bonus on the location, but once they tossed one in anyway.

My co worker did this and got $1 as well!

Then sometimes I do their fast casual restaurant and get $2 or $3 or even $5 but last time $12 for closed location.

Inconsistent.
This happens a lot with banks.

to answer a few questions (haven't logged in for awhile) - posted pay was $16. They have always paid me half if the shop couldn't be completed, so I expected half. Re calling ahead, I scheduled 12 of these for the same day, it was at large mall/shopping area, and I have shopped all the other places before. The closed location was new to me, but I was going to be there anyway.

yes. Im going through that right now. Since Jan, once a month, I take pictures of a construction site because the location is still being built. Its $70 and they pay in full, I will be taking pictures all year.

Construction projects often have unforeseen snags. Withdrawal of financing. Discovery of archeological items. Encounter with previously undocumented toxic waste. Inspector corruption. Labor difficulties. Your year might turn into several years of monthly pictures.

This is interesting. I think that IPSOS is being intentionally vague regarding their closed shop fees. In the past, I consistently received half the pay for a closed location. The last one I also received just $1. I have looked over the guidelines in detail and it just doesn't say what the closed location fee is. It simply says to submit the survey in order to receive the closed location fee. They should definitely be putting the actual fee in writing in the guidelines.
What is wild is that I was just paid full fee ($63) for a gas station that had changed brands. Two photos and a couple of pick boxes to check. Other times I’ve been stiffed. No rhyme or reason for it at all.

$16
I was scheduled for a "dine-in" shop that was closed because of a lack of employees. They paid me the $8.00 fee. That was about 2 months ago.
Lemmetellyasomethin - I recently had two shops for Intellishop that were closed/out of business and, after submitting proof and explanations, I was paid in full. No fight. No back and forth. No half-fee. After being so conditioned to Ipsos' reduced fee policies, I was relieved, impressed and so very thankful to Intellishop for making my day by being a stand-up company in this regard!
I had an apt. shop in Dec. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited 15 minutes after the appointment. Before I departed the property, I spoke with a work crew and a tenant living across the hall from the leasing office; none had seen the agent in days. I reported this and was paid, without needing to request, my full $60 by Intelli-shop.
I had a shop scheduled last month with IntelliShop. I did everything I was supposed to do prior to arrival - including calling the location to ensure hours of operation. I got there in plenty of time but the lights were out and no one was home. I took a few pictures, emailed the scheduler, and expected to receive something asking me to return or thanking me for my time. The scheduler emailed me back and said I would receive full pay. I think they are top notch.

I agree about intellishop being top-notch. If all of the instructions are followed, and the location is visited on the allowed days and times, they always pay in full.
WOW! I am in Nevada. There are shops that I ALWAYS try to do specifically because the locations are closed since the pandemic and I get the full fee for going and taking the photo. I am so sorry that happened to you. This must be one of the benefits of shopping in NV. I would never do that shop again!
