Hello totterman: Please try the search feature for Coyle, or under your post, there's a link to more discussion about Coyle. The information you are looking for is at your fingertipssmiling smiley
I have done two hotel shops with Coyle. They reimburse quickly but the paperwork takes alot of time. They are a good company though.

I have applied as well. First, the scheduler said she would be assigning Monday and Tuesday. Next email, on Tuesday, said later tonight and tomorrow. None of the restaurant jobs in my area has been assigned.

My question is how long does it take to hear from your application for mystery shopping with Coyle? I applied at least 3 weeks ago. I have heard NOTHING! After a few days had passed, I emailed them and asked how long it took, since I had not heard anything, and usually with a new MSPA company, I hear back immediately, or within 24 hours, anyway. They emailed me back, and stated it usually takes about a week. That was approximately 2 weeks ago! Should I just forget about them? Thanks!
Still waiting to see if I got the lunch....I applied for one yesterday and it is still sitting, I finally deleted t.

I've said this before, but since this is a new thread, it should be reiterated; Don't expect Coyle to operate like other MSC's or you will be continually frustrated with them.

I waited 6 months for my application to be accepted. I have also had a request for a dinner assignment in since it was posted a few weeks ago. This is business as usual...
To answer your questions:

Totterman - yes, we are legit, very legit! However, you will need to build your portfolio with restaurant (breakfast, lunch, bar/lounge and dinner/bar assignments) before you are considered and recommended for hotels. The average is between 5-10 with high scorecards. (18+) Please email me directly if you have questions.

CoffeyK - thanks!

Scheduling Questions - Please email me directly - Monday was a holiday and Wednesday/Saturdays are my days off.

Wade's Taxi - please email me directly so I can review the survey account - and include the email you would have used in the survey along with your last name. Also, please check your spam/junk folder for the registration information email if your survey was approved. Certain email programs will send auto-generated emails directly to the spam/junk folder when the words "registration", "password" and "username" are in an email. (or they will block entirely)

Hope that helps to answer questions.

Have a great Thursday - almost the end of May, can't believe it already!

Hi Evaluators,

I hope you are getting ready to enjoy your holiday weekend.

We currently have two assignments I just re-posted back on the boards and both have been given a higher fee of xxx. I am reaching out to our experienced evaluators first, just in case you would like the higher fees. If you have not completed either of these, and would be interested, please email me directly and let me know. Both are weekdays only.

Additionally: Our June Assignments have been uploaded and I will be starting to schedule on Monday.

Hi Evaluators!

xxx is available (Monday through Friday only) and I have increased the fee to xx; however, it really needs to be completed this month/May.

If you are available - and you have not completed an assignment at xxx within the past 12 months - and would like to pick up this evaluation, please email me directly at: klhofbauer@coylehospitality.com

Additionally - we have posted our June assignments and I will start scheduling these later today and tomorrow, so when you have time, please log into your Coyle account and submit your requests. If you are doing some international travel in June - do make sure you check out the xxxx!

Thanks!
Kimberly

Kimberly, when will you be assigning the June shops? I applied a week ago, and have not heard anything. There was also one shop there that I applied month after month, but was never assigned. I have been working with Coyle for over a year, and have gotten high scores, between 18 and 20, with sprinklings of 17's from tough editors.
It's not a reasonable expectation to have all the shops for this MSC scheduled by the first of the month. It has never worked that and I'm pretty sure it never will. Just as a few shops have been scheduled, new ones have also appeared. Some always remain near the end of the month as well, and I'm guessing that's where a lot of time is spent as far as scheduling goes this week.

I know Kimberly has a lot on her plate with the scheduling and it's great that she takes the the time to reply to questions here, but I'm guessing that posting the status of how many of your requests have been assigned (or not) is probably not the best approach in getting shops assigned to you any faster. Consider how many shoppers Coyle has and have some understanding for the one scheduler trying to fulfill all of the requests, making sure the shoppers each get the assignments they want, fielding numerous emails, changes, flakes, etc.
Coyle is very tough in their ratings. I did a few hotel shops and, on my first shop, got a commendation from the client for my thorough reporting. Got at 17 on the shop report, mainly for punctuation. The next shop was for a swanky hotel in Aspen. Checked in at 4 pm on Friday, out at 11 AM on Sunday and worked so hard that I didn't even get to take a shower. I did 40 evaluations in about 45 hours with very little sleep. I got paid less than $2 per evaluation (oh, and I got to "enjoy" the swanky hotel - sorry for the sarcasm.) They travel reimbursement paid only for my gas, not for my auto expenses. I got a 16 on that report and felt like I got hit in the gut. I rarely get lower than a 9 in my ratings at other companies and most of them are 10. I'd rather make money calling banks for a scheduler who thinks I walk on water and use it to pay for a weekend away than work for Coyle.

I'm quoting myself to once more make the point that not all MSCs are equal in how reports are scored, and that each shopper has to find shops that are right for them.

I don't know you particular circumstances, iamloved, but I managed to review that hotel in Aspen and find time to go snowboarding for the most of the second day. I saw that assignment as receiving around $1,500 in services and 2 nights at the hotel doing things I would have done anyway in exchange for 10 hours of writing after I got home. That's $150/hour the way I value shops.

It's also a single evaluation, BTW. It may have 40 components to it, but some of those are as simple as setting and answering a wake up call. That's pretty standard for hotel shops. If your goal is to come away with money in your pocket from a hotel shop, Coyle will probably not be a good fit for you. There are MSCs that pay more for a hotel, but chances are you are not going to get a free stay in Aspen....

P.S. I also got a free snowboard waxing as part of the shop smiling smiley

I'm back and forth on Coyle. I like where they shop, but the reports *are* a lot of work compared to other companies. I thought they were about the same as ACL, but no, ACL is definitely easier, at least for fine dining. (Whether ACL's partial reimbursement is worth it for their fine dining is a whole different thread.)
Last time I checked ACL was offered $0 as a payment for 2-3 star hotel assignments. That's certainly not the same either.
Coyle will be reviewed in the June 2 issue of Mystery Shopper Magazine.

Actually, is it me or are the hotel narratives requiring much less these days than before?
I was just commenting on fine dining. It would be almost impossible for me to get away to do a hotel shop.

There are two other companies I work with doing similar fine dining, but with less variety than Coyle. They also offer full reimbursement and have less stringent reporting requirements. Don't get me wrong, I really do like Coyle, merely reiterating that they are hard.
I love Coyle so much. Most of what I like to do is fine dining and Coyle has some the THE best places if you live near major cities. It's really great to see their presence in this forum. The report takes time but the rewards are worth it. I like to plan fine dining out several weeks in advance so I never mind waiting to hear back on a shop.
Here are my favorite things about them:

1.) There are lots of fabulous dining locations and times of the day to choose from.
3.) They give you lots of time to complete the survey. I hate when you have to complete a dining survey in 12 hours - that's insane in my book.
4.) When additional questions are needed, they are well thought out & the schedulers are nice to work with.
5.) I like how their website works, and the report pages are easy to navigate through. I never have to worry about a popup that warns...HURRY, SAVE OR LOSE IT ALL.

The only shame is the rotations are once a year (at least the ones I've done). Is there any chance those might be shortened to say 6 months? ( if they are listening smiling smiley
I love Coyle! I try to do a good job and get 18-20's, a couple of 17's. We only do restaurants, have no desire for hotels or cruises.
Still waiting for my applied to over a week ago restaurant to be assigned. I am getting offers from other companies, and declining, suppose to be done around the 6th....anyone having this problem? Hard to do other scheduling with this hanging...

My rule of thumb is to accept the first offer, don't wait. You might end up with nothing.
If you find something else for that same day, you can just move or cancel your request.

Steve, Shopsuey was referring to comparing "fine dining" between ACL and CHG, not hotels, from what I read.

Did a restaurant shop for them last week. It took five days to hear back from the editor. They must be behind.

I got that, Cubbie. I was being sarcastic about their payments (or lack thereof) being part of the reason why the shops may be easier. The ACL dining shops generally don't pay anything either. It's Apples vs. Oranges....
