IPSOS evaluation scoring

Has anyone recently received a reduced score with no explanation? I had two evaluations that took a while to be scored and I got an 8/10 on them. Nothing extra is stated in the comments. Usually I get a10/10. Just be glad I'll get paid and move on, right?

I think it's one of those "Power of the Pen" issues, as a teacher of mine once said. Some people feel more powerful when they give lower scores - ego boost ("I know more than you know..." ). I used to get 10's consistently. I tried emailing and asking for explanations when it became difficult to get a 10. The few answers I got were all over the board and one answer was wrong. I haven't bothered asking lately because it seems that evaluations are being scored by what someone thinks the answer should 'look like' instead of factual data (one marked off because I used 69 inches instead of 5'9" even though no input format is given ).

I am not sure that I would call IPSOS' editors tyrannical, but they are certainly arbitrary. Of course, the two terms are associated. Thankfully, they don't rule me or I would be under the yoke of tyranny.
I don’t know why scores have been lower recently with no explanation, but it seems to be pervasive and therefore purposeful. Maybe WSP’s was called out for missing infractions, maybe Ipsos wants to make us worried for our jobs and work for less money, or both. I’ve had some silly and wrong deductions, some “I can’t tell you” deductions and a couple where I realized that over time I had stopped checking one particular thing and luckily it was the best editor* who noticed it, deducted just the point it deserved and told me about it. The sometimes-policy of not telling you why is really one of the more ridiculous things I’ve heard of.
*No Public kudos in this case—pretty sure being a shopper’s favorite editor wouldn’t be a positive thing for Ipsos or WSP.
When given the opportunity, I write time in 24 hour format. 00:00 is midnight. 12:00 is noon. But one of Ipsos editors doesn't get it, or is pretending not to get it just to be deliberately contrary. I expressed the time to her in every format I could think of, and she still asked me what the stations hours were and if they were open 24 hours.

She had no other issues with my gas station audit, and she turned nothing into a pain in my hiney and a dozen emails that say the exact same thing.

I don't care what my "score" is, just pay me. I know it was done properly.

Ah, but those scores do matter!
A certain level score received too often impairs your ability to self-assign shops.
I've found that when I receive a 10 or a 9, there is no explanation. However, if the score falls to an 8 (or lower) the editor has been kind enough to inform me of an error.
However, when I've marked off a gas station for having ears on their pumps, it is often disputed by the editor who alleges the ear is inside the pump's body and not extending away from the pump. It is the photo angle that makes it appear within while I have seen it and know it extends outward. I sigh and think, my bad, I should have taken a better photo showing its outside.
They need to tell you what your doing wrong so you can fix it on the next shops. Especially in this case where the op was getting 10 out 10. Absolutely ridiculous.

Shopping Idaho and Oregon/Idaho border region.
The grading used to drive me crazy. Then I remembered the old saying “what do you call the medical student who graduated with a 2.0 GPA?Doctor.” I do enough shops that the law of average gives me a overall score of 8-10 depending on the project and MSP. I get paid and that’s all I ultimately care about. Sometimes I make mistakes…I’m human. Sometimes you get a new editor who is trying to impress or an old one who has had a bad day. Overall most make me a better shopper. Some are just @#$%& and nothing I say or do will change that. I do tell the ones who make me a better shopper thank you and I appreciate what they do. They need some love too!????
I use to pay close attention to the scores when I 1st started. Logically it seemed important.

I stopped when I began doing 2 shops a month for a particular MSC, always scoring a 10, but my average never changes from a 9. Also, when 1 editor for a different MSC, comments on the same shop included (1) be sure to note all infractions and (2) don't perform a white glove audit. Really ? No explanation for either. The straw was when an editor noted comments and I asked what was it in particular ? She responded with a comment that had nothing to do with the shop!

That is when I told myself -- you are putting your best effort forward but have no control over how inconsistent the editors are or the broken algorithm used to determine a shoppers average.

It would have to be a super low score to ruffle my feathers at this point.

Its a shame. tho .... the editing should in part help one to better perfect a shop and its report. Sadly, the meant to be coaching tool is often the reverse, frustrating and a failure to shoppers.
