Digital Voice Recorder

Can anyone recommend a good Digital Recorder that is EASY to use and set up. I have an Olympus recorder, which does NOT have a usb port to upload to the computer. In addition, when I leave it on in my handbag, it seems to turn off.

Actually, the higher priced models by Olympus seem to be the DVRs of chioce. As for turning itself off, you may want to reread the instructions regarding the use of the "hold" button to lock it into the record mode. Or, you may have to tape over the hold button once it is set, if it seems to slide easily out of the locked position.

A lot of the recorders have a "voice activated" setting. If the recorder is in a purse and not set to its most responsive, it may be just not being activated to pick up conversation. I have turned off the "voice activated" on my Sony to avoid shut offs when there is no conversation (which messes up using it for timings). The other issue I had with voice activation was that because it takes a moment to get going, I was missing the beginning of a conversation.
I am really not that comfortable with the recorder that I have. I find it difficult to use. I really need a simple and easy one, if there is such a thing.

I see the hold button on the side. However, I am not quite sure of the voice activation. What could be happening, as Flash says, is that the person stops talking and I miss the conversation.
I do not use voice ativation, nor do I know if my DVR has it. Let's get back to basics, please. The Olympus models that have the little gizmo that extend to plug into your USB port are all worth considering.

I have one and never use it. Improve your memory. How? well there are tricks. Sam helped me. He is cooking green eggs and ham. What is so strange is that he is cooking on a stove that is 6 foot tall and might burn his beard and smoke up his glasses. I asked him. Sam I am< is there jam? There is John. Man, can you show me where the John is? I am 6" over full! I may have to tug your mustashe and slap those glasses off of you. Mary. I would never marry a girl named Mary who is lifting a cow in the dairy. Mary, Marrying a cow, or a girl lifting one. All of this stuff is crazy, but you will remember if you make up stupid stuff.
While I agree with rich, I think if yo do multiple shops in one day and don't immediately do your paperwork after a shop a DVR can be useful (especially when there is a lot of dialogue and its important to note exactly what was said).

I use an older olympus dvr that i used in school. its a little temperamental now (and only records in wma format which is ancient) so I'm going to look at upgrading to a newer one - but will probably stick with olympus due to simplicity.
I find it so much easier to observe and let the DVR remember for me than find mnemonic or other memory devices. I could spend an entire restaurant experience trying to create such or just make verbalized comments for the recorder while I enjoy the meal and the company.
I bought a new recorder last month from Ebay. It was 32.00 including shipping for a refurbished Olympus Vin-6200PC. You put it on record and then lock it in with the hold function button. Works like a charm.
I wouldn't be without me DVR. I did 5 shops today and forgot me recorder at home. I was totally lost. I keep my recordings until I know the shop went through. I have an Olympus Note Corder DP-10 I bought a little while ago at Best Buy I just love.
