It depends what gas companies it is. Usually they are not hard, but the one up now in my area is a fairly new client and they have been very picky about the photo they accept.
Hey Cooldude - I sent you a PM.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
LOTS of pictures! One brand is taking me about 40 minutes oer shop. I' new at this project. I'm sure I'll get faster. The best part is free gas. I did four of them yesterday and will have to trade cars with Ron so I have someplace to put all that gas! Going to Walmart to buy some gas cans.

You'll definitely get faster.
I was going to try these out. Is this the one where you have to buy safety stuff?
I bought a safety vest in the sporting goods section at Wakmart fur $5.00. I've done 13 of the shops at $10 plus 2 gallons of gas each. Hard work with lots of pictures but I'm getting a system down and speeding them up.

You'll get better as you go along. Their main ones usually take about 15-20 at tops. They got a new one that I cancelled all the jobs on, because they were way too picky, and asking to go back and take some more pics. The pay level is OK if you combine a few jobs, but not if you have to go back, because they want a "better shot".
signed up for 2 of them... havent heard back from them... i will wait and see... i am not sure if they have a threshold to self assign... and if so i dont think i met it yet...

so if I am understanding you all correctly, the one that requires the vest is great, but the other one is kind of a pain about the pictures? I have been looking into these as well.

Also, if I have already said I didnt have and would not buy the safety vest, is there a way to go back and change my response so I can accept those shops?
it wasn't... this company, each time you request a shop, asks you a few questions to determine your eligability.
You definitely get faster. My first took about 50 minutes. I can knock a "green" Maritz audit out in 15-20 now.
This time period they have added more questions and more pictures. Pay is the same. Go figure.
I take lots of extra pictures while walking the entire perimeter of the lot. If I can't get the shot they want with 35 to 40 pictures per shop, they are unreasonable. I won't be going back. Gonna cut my teeth here in Louisville on the green shops. They will have to let me know what they expect before I head across the state and do 23 of them 150-200 miles from home. I'm not going back. lol
Their Gas Station Mystery Shops are easy to complete. I have not done their Gas Station Audits though due to the amount of pictures required.
The Audits are easy. About 15 minutes and 14 pictures...winking smiley

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.

They could add 30 pictures and keep the pay the same, but drop the cockamamie carbon paper forms and I would be ECSTATIC.
I have been working the Maritz gas shops in Canada for 2 1/2 years. They pay in a timely manner and I found they require indepth info. in some situations. It's their right. For those of you using your cell phones for pics. if you're serious about this business, get a propper camera with at minimum 6 pixels.
I was too chicken. Spoke with the scheduler and told her it sounded like it was involved, the manipulating the pictures alone sounds time consuming. She was very nice about it. She did say they have lots of people performing the audits.

My complaint is that the number of required photos is steadily increasing - vest, trash, washer, curb, bollard all recently added - while the pay remains the same. More work for less pay seems to be a recurring theme in mystery shopping.
I can do the green gas and the yellow gas shops in about 15 minutes, take three shots of each photo and a few spares of things like a photo of the gas pump I just used so I have a clear record of what I spent where. I also take a photo of a piece of paper in between locations with the wave number and an arrow ---> so I know where each location's photos begin.

Once home I then transfer all pictures to my computer and sit with a pen and paper and write a list of what each picture is and it's number and circle the best ones so I'm not hunting when it's time to upload. Of course I have a list in my hand of what photos are needed as I'm going around taking pictures so I don't have to backtrack nor do I have to take them in order of upload but I've got them all by the time I leave. The other trick is always get your photos first just in case some doofus tells you to leave. I got sent back to take pictures at a location that threw me out once and it wasn't pretty.

I go through and take all the pictures I'll need...always take a couple of each shot. I take them at the correct resolution so I don't have to resize the pics. When I get home I just turn on the camera...I have an Eye Fi memory card in the camera. The pictures automatically transfer to my computer and I don't have to do a single thing. I stick them in a folder with the correct visit number and quickly go through and label the ones I want to use. It doesn't take much time at all!
And in case of doubt, remember that cameras show the time and date a picture was taken when you move the files to your computer. Using the 'details' option on the file tree, you can match times to the time you performed the shop to make sure you have all the right location together. Once you have tinkered with the photos and resaved them, that timing option is gone as the time will show the most recent change to the file.
using the VGA feature on my Olympus is working great. Original pictures have their time/date on the file (not the picture) and I don't have to tinker. I take pictures of my receipts and that identifies what pics go with whick shop. When I leave the station, it's all done but the actual report. Did 5 today and my gas tank is fat and sassy!

Considering that Maritz is a big company and has been in business a long time, their mystery shop reporting system is disappointingly primitive and tedious. Their photo sending system is outright pathetic. I refuse to do any more shops for them.
