MF no more Make an Offer?

Ever since they raised the reimbursement by a few dollars, the make an offer have disappeared from their shops. The fee is typically $10 for the burger place, and if they are really desperate, there is a flame and a $20 fee.

I just had a MAO accepted last week for a remote location at $40.They still exist, but I think more shoppers are jumping on the lower offers for whatever reason before they get to MAO.
I have been getting alot of calls from them on the weekend for last minute hot spots. But the kicker is they offered me LESS than what was posted. The guy stuttered and stumbled when I called him out on it. I couldn't do it anyway but that was rude. Don't try to low ball me.
This is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you posted it for more, don't expect me to work for less. I can't wrap my brain around the people who think this is ok.

There have been other threads about them offering less than what is on the board. Always check the board when they call you. When my usual scheduler calls I politely tell her the fee from the board and ask if she can match it. She refreshes her system and she matches that fee. I honestly think for some reason their system doesn't get updated as quickly as what we see (based on previous threads and my personal experience). Once a different scheduler called and she wouldn't match the board so I told her "No thanks" but that was the only time. And irony of ironies, as I was typing this on my phone I got a call from MF for 2 shops. Not my usual scheduler but the second most frequent one. Did what I explained above and got the board fee on both which was more than what she offered. Like @ShopperBob says, "business IS business."
Not a criticism, but a question? Why would you take the same fee on the board from the scheduler rather than just self assigning or asking the scheduler if they can go higher than what's on the board?

Myself, I stopped answering calls from their schedulers because of that low ball thing they do. I've gotten a couple of texts when they were really desperate and they offered a good fee for a location, but my experience with the MF schedulers has been that they are kind of useless. YMMV.

LindaS,

If you are going to accept what is on the board, why do you wait for a call and schedule it that way.

Why not ask for more than what's on the board and see if they will "tell their manager" which usually means it will be accepted in less than a half hour.

I am now ignoring the calls and checking the board. They accepted my MAO for $5 more than the posted price. Seemed fair. The phone center people are very resistant to this kind of increase. They really are working against your interest AND the interest of the MSC by doing this stuff. We pass on stuff over and over because of goofy callers. Call with a firm and reasonable offer. Nothing below what we did it for last time. Nothing below the board. Nothing below minimum wage time for task and report. Absolutely nuts.
I just now had a MAO accepted for $13 over the price listed on the board ($22...$35) for a shop due Sunday or Monday.
When they call me the shops are locked so I can't just self-assign.

Thank you @DRJ, @wrosie and @Tanischri87 for your suggestions. I will definitely try asking for more than what's on the board next time.

What area are all of you in? Are you able to get higher fees because there are fewer shoppers? (I'm in Southern CA)
I'm in a major midwest city where $25 is the usual, infrequent top, but I've picked up the odd $30 or $40 last minute shop when someone flakes. (Talking about the burger place) The recent $35 shop I mentioned was somewhere remote in PA where I travel to for other reasons. I know they don't have many shoppers there and I probably could wrangle a higher fee than $40 there occasionally but it's not always easy to fit into my schedule.
Many times, with these call centers, and digital this and that - the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. It's Digital and it's Efficient. Yes, yes, I admit I want to buy a huge lawn - and make everyone get off of it ...but right here on this thread is an example.
over the weekends I got email from Samanta to do late evening shop for $25. I went to the board and discovered the same shop for the same price with posibility to negotiate. I asked for $30. and they rejected it. On Sunday it pops up for $30. I picked it. that is the closest one for me with drivive about 2 minutes.

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
I feel like I'm missing something! If the shops are on the board at a certain fee and you are willing to do them, why not just accept them on the board? Why wait for a scheduler to call and off the same rate?

I've been shopping for 6 months or so. Month ago, I just stopped taking the Samantha calls. Sometimes I felt the caller was not quite coherent. Other times the fee was low. Why pick up and then ask for more money and be told now. Would rather just watch the boards . If the fees are good - take the job - if not - well, look for something else.
I disagree.

About half the time I tell them what I need and they submit it to their manager. I'd say about 80% of the time or more, it gets approved.
They offer less than is on the board because they work for such a pittance that if they can fill even one job an hour for less than what is on the board, they earn their pay and more.
I'm guessing the offshore schedulers are in the Philippines. I heard a rooster crow on one of my calls.

590.00 Philippine pesos is the daily pay there which equates to $10.60 US per day. Or in other words, a normal burger shop at the base rate FOR THE FEE! So it would cost them more than a day and a half of wages to go to the burger joint at the reimbursed amount on their own dime!

So don't chastise the foreign schedulers when they can't grasp asking for three days pay to do one shop.

Just saying. It's all about your frame of reference.

And please don't start a discussion about cost of living etc. I'm just saying that our frame of reference is different, that's all.
And I have been told that they don't have access to the boards to know what they say...

Agreed- frankly, their English skills are better than my Tagalog skills - or Hindi or whatever - depending on the country.

However - here's the 'good news' - eventually they'll get more than $10.60 per day. And we'll get bumped down - closer to $10.60 day. The joys of modern globalism.

Ugh, so glad my mindset and heart is 30 years out of style.... I like it so much better. If only I didn't have kids I could laugh about all of this. Ok, even so - I sometimes do.

I just want to jump in here. As someone who has actually spent time in call centers in the Philippines, hearing a rooster crow is not indicative of their work space. Call centers there are in tall, modern buildings in commercial areas. The residential areas do not have the technology and infrastructure to support work from home. Not saying it doesn't happen, but the only roosters I saw there were in the poorest sections of town and in very primitive surroundings. I will agree the workers there, while very well-educated, don't tend to understand the U.S. style of living.
I also heard a rooster during an overseas call and asked about it...yup, a rooster. So maybe some work from home.

The more I learn about people...the more I like my dog..

Mark Twain
Chickens roam freely all around here in Northern Alabama. I have a neighbor around the corner, his house is on one side of the street and his property where his chickens are are on the other side of the street. And the chickens go back and forth as they please. My chickens have five acres to get lost on but mostly they stay on the 2 Acres around the house that's clear and easy to access.
My neighbors in the house next door have chickens and a rooster who crows every morning (and sometimes all day long!). They run around the yard freely and sometimes come to my apartment door to greet me. I live on a main thoroughfare in a coastal New England town.
I had to stop taking their calls because I can't understand what they are saying half the time. I am extremely hard of hearing and wear two hearing aides so the accent and the super fast talking, I am LOST. I have asked them to slow down.. ok, what location, ok, what days, the fees are never good when they call so why bother calling?
Data, I understand. I have tinitis from working in a very noisy environment for 30 years, some high pitched voices and sounds are extremely painful to me. And they don't stop, they just keep talking and talking and talking. I can't understand a word of it and it hurts and they don't stop. So I hang up.
