Anybody else pre-fill the surveys the night before to save time onsite? Like the date and answers you already know in the first section, "Is there a canopy?" Etc.

Don't forget to stick your foot in the door of that tiny grungy restroom to snap a picture before you reveal.

That's what make Polar Pops so good, the cold, cold ice.

But there are definitely different standards at gas stations depending on the region and/or store brand.

On top of that, it has become so difficult to find anything inside for $1.

Even a 1/2 L generic bottle of water is $1.79 plus tax.

One may well spend 1/2 hour or just to take photos of the pumps. Say 20 pumps, a minute or so per pump and more if there are deficiencies, and then running from pump to pump as vehicles pull away from them. Then there is time waiting for the restroom to be free of people so a photo can be taken there. Time to hike out to the perimeter of the station and to the high rise sign. Time waiting in line at the cashier. It all adds up.

I don’t reuse pictures in any shop. I recently made a mistake and put my traffic vest pic in 2 different shops and got smacked for it. So they do care about reusing pics in shops. I do take a minimum of 3 of each pic. And more if there is an infraction. That way, no matter what they ask for after the fact, I have a pic to cover it and I don't have to go back.

It can't be both ways. Either all of the shots need to be original, or it's ok to reuse pictures. And ALL of the guidelines I have read says they need to be original single use pics. If you reuse pictures in your shops and get away with it, more power to you. If I do it, I'll get called out, my shops will be invalidated, and I'll most likely be deactivated, that is how my luck works. So you know what I don't do? I don’t reuse pics.

oh yea, i’m not encouraging anyone to use the same photo, i’m just shocked you’d get invalidated for that.

Vest photo can't be reused. That needs to be original.

Because they check the time details to verify you were wearing it during the time frame of your shop
@claabe @Rousseau What about these people that just park at the pump and disappear for half an hour? How do you work around that one? I recall a few people in an old thread saying that some customers see that you are waiting for them to move and will just sit in their car, check their mirrors, and do anything but move just to spite you.

I did one recently which had a sit-down restaurant in the station. Those eating were largely parked at pumps. Lots of waiting. Eventually, I got all but obe pump which I had to upload a pic takrn at a rather poor angle as there was less than 1 foot between car and pump.
Hey, I go to my car and start the report. The ones that are staying just to be iceholes will start up and drive away as soon as I close my car door. The ones that are doing things on their phones in the shade while they are parked take a few minutes to realize I'm not waiting anymore. I have waited more than 20 minutes, and finished the rest of the survey, and pretended to drive away. Then I ended up going inside and asking the station manager or owner if they could ask their customer to park at a different pump or in a parking space.

I don’t interact with customers unless they initiate it, or once in a while to say something nice about their car if it's fancy or fixed up and it's a car I wanted or had once upon a time. I NEVER ask them to move their car. After all I'm still just an old retired mechanic..

I have been catching flak recently about not providing an explanation in the comments whever I have to take a pump photo from a major angle. I'm not sure what they want me to say. I started saying things like, the driver was just sitting there using a cell phone and not doing anything, or the driver was stocking an ice chest at the pump, or the car was empty and no driver was present for a long time. I've been tempted to say things like, "The driver may have been eating a burger at the store restaurant during his lunch break, or maybe using number 2 in the restroom, or maybe chatting it up with the clerk."

Maybe I am overthinking it, and they simply want me to say, "Pump X was blocked by a large truck and I had to take it at an angle." I would think that was obvious from the large truck blocking the pump at the edge of the photo, but I guess a strict interpretation of the guidelines does require me to explain why I could not take the required photos. It is just another case of more work required for less pay. Hopefully it is just a passing fad, as I am becoming less inclined to add the explanations and would rather take the ding to my score.
Reusing a photo for two different shops is an absolute no-no. But using the same photo twice in the same report is not a big deal, in most cases, as long you get originals for the main required photos.

helena....don't fool yourself...the schedulers often (not always, but often) have control and/or influence on fees...
