$23 Ipsos Eletronics Mystery Shops (BEWARE)

I was just forwarded an email stating that that Ipsos has now added a $7 bonus to some of its Electronics Mystery Shops and that you can do 30 of them before August 10th.

Beware though. They are notorious for deactivating shoppers who complete these shops. Flimsy excuses range from photoshopping pictures to wearing glasses in the selfie to using the same verbiage throughout reports to even “doing too many Electronics Mystery Shops”.

Did they deactivate you or someone you know? How do you know they are deactivating profiles over this job?

1. I’ve read the posts on the boards.
2. I’ve known shoppers who’ve shared their experiences with doing these shops.
Why would people doing these bonused shops be punished more than when they are not bonused? For example, I've done several of these shops without the bonus and always had my glasses on (which turn dark in sunlight) for every selfie, and none of my shops have been rejected.

A lot of shoppers were punished when the shops weren’t bonused. That’s why they are constantly on the board. The bonus seems enticing, but at what cost?

There was someone on this board that was deactivated for taking a a selfie with their glasses on. Diana told them that the client wanted to see their whole face.

Try to make sense of that!

How so??

A lot of shoppers have been deactivated from Ipsos for ambiguous reasons after performing these shops. Many shoppers have decided that their relationship with the company is more important than performing this particular shop.
You've been deactivated multiple different times for all those different reasons? How did you manage to get new accounts each time?
I did like 6 prior to the bonus this month, when they were $16, and I just did another 3 after the bonus, so they were $23 each. No issues yet for me

Please read the third post in this thread (something that @mystery2me didn’t do as well). I did not get deactivated, nor do I have multiple accounts.

I get my information from posts on this board and other mystery shopping boards. I also talk to other shoppers in the industry
The *bonus* on some of them around me is $24, but I don't want to do them after reading some of this.
I did one today with the $24 bonus and was pleasantly surprised. I was thankful the associate didn't ask for my account info that I don't have with the company but was supposed to be a customer. I was prepared with the suggestions given in this thread. Thank you!

I stopped doing them years ago after I thought they were a pita with all the scenarios and photos etc. This one went ok and was worth the fee of $40. I still can't say I enjoy doing them and won't seek any more unless the fee is good. Now, let's wait and see if it's accepted.

But that bonus expires tonight and I had other shops scheduled for today, not near any bonused ones. That just kills me! Everything's always so last minute!

Usually when there's that many left over and no new dates they're just waiting to add a bigger bonus for tomorrow. I plan on checking early. I might actually do some.
I wish I saw this post about the bonuses earlier. I was literally right next to a store that was heavily bonused, but didn't realize it until I got home. Not really worth the time and gas to go back there again.
What we all really need is someone to figure out the algorithms. A numerical, techy genius who can give us an idea as to exactly when bonuses will happen, how it's determined, much they'll be and how long they'll last.
Anyone? ANYONE??
Aren't you concerned about the selfie requirement? You would be outed and could not shop the location again. I have shopped some of the stores in the past and would like to keep open that possibility for the future.

What is with Ipsos and the selfie?!? It's also not disclosed. I had signed up for a different shop and dropped it since I learned about the selfie after the fact.
The selfie didn't bother me, except for the fact that the associate was facing outward and probably noticed the idiot standing outside the store taking numerous selfies while trying to get one where she looked halfway decent. It's what they want, so it's what they got.

I think:
1. We are not shopping the store, we are shopping the phone brand. So the store probably never gets the full report.
2. The MSC and/or client requires the selfie and in-store photos as our proof to them that we actually went to the place, went inside and, maybe even performed the shop. No doubt some shoppers have just made up info and submitted false reports, maybe even from home. So, because if them, we are ALL being accused of trickery, laziness and fraudulent behavior and must prove otherwise. That pisses me off.
That's entirely possible after some of the things I've heard about gas station audits.

I used to go and wait. I would get a card from one of the associates so that I can call ahead next time to see if they are busy, because I don't want to wait again. Then I would fill in the report with exactly what happened. I've tried lying, I'm exceptionally bad at it. So I don't.

We can use geoverify. They have us take pictures of the front of the store and inside. Presto even has you press a button when you arrive. I just don't think it's needed for their goal and only puts us in a bad position.

I did one of these last week. It was a bonused shop and had been returned to me by the editor because an answer was missing. Well, how could I have submitted an incomplete report? I resubmitted it, and then wrote back to tell her I remembered answering that question already. She replied that there was a problem with the form and that returning it to me would not affect my rating.

I was paid today. No problem. I wonder what people are doing wrong that it gets them deactivated.
