Presto Visa DEBIT card shops

Hey everyone, i just finished another one of these and i noticed they now allow TWO photos of your Visa Debit card for those of us who have the required info on two different sides. I guess they are listening after all!

Not sure these are the same shops but they have "Special Expenses: $24.00". Is this a bonus, or just for if you have to go over the reimbursement amount?

These are listed as "Small Business MS d" on Sassie and I sent an e-mail to Mystery.Shopping@MSC.HERE.com.

I'm pretty sure the $24 is extra reimbursement for salons where you can spend a bit more per guidelines.
This is at a mom and pop convenience store/bodega. I may have to try it and get a couple sub sandwiches.

I think it's a hard to fill location and I'm not sure they have prices listed anywhere except the old time price sticker on each item. I've only been in there once a while back.
The price stickers on individual items has worked for me. There were no shelf prices or menu board prices for one of the shops I did.
I have had good luck with these shops so far, but I had a mom and pop convenience store the other day that gave me a debit card receipt with one date on it and when I asked for an itemized receipt, it had the current date (2 days later than the debit card receipt). I was kinda worried that they would not approve my shop, but they approved it very quickly. I was a happy camper!
I scouted another location for the Visa Debit card shops this afternoon because I was afraid that it is going to be a very small location and hard to get pix of the merchandise and especially the register. Well, it turns out, it is a VERY small business. It's gonna be very difficult to get any pix inside of this shop. The customer area is about 8'x8', and the employee area is about 10'x10'. It's a very strange place.

I've been wanting a more covert way to take pictures for a while, so I ordered a cheap pair of glasses with a digital camera on them today. I found them on Amazon and they were about $50. If they turn out to be crap, I'll just return them. But I figured I could use them for a lot of shops in the future where it's difficult/awkward to take photos.

The glasses will be here in the morning, and I'll do the shop shortly after. I'll keep y'all updated.

I'm also interested in any covert still cameras that anyone else has tried (I don't need video, but the still shots would be great!)

Turns out I might have the opportunity to do one, or at least have a gauge for whether these can even be worth it.

I leave tomorrow on a 3-day, 33-visit gas station loop, all done via you know who, and all booked through and reported via you know which phone app.

Because different projects have different time windows, I'm still waiting to fill in some holes with some darkness shops, including a big one between my last daylight stop tomorrow and my hotel. I still have to wait about 3 hours before I can snag them.

Provided nobody gets them before I do, I will have to kill some time to wait for the sun goes down. The first darkness shop is in the same town as my last mollusk for the day.

Aaaaand the place I had already chosen to grab a bite happens to be on the magic map.

I suppose I could dine in and pay cash and then drive-thru for the Visa order, but it still doesn't really jibe with how I like to roll on the road. I'd rather eat one thing that really looks good than look for two lesser things I can fit into a budget.

As posted previously, I think the premise is a joke to begin with.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
@CoolMusic - I can only dream of the days when i'm able to go on a three day bender (er, I mean road trip) to do mystery shops.

Seriously though, I envy you.

Good luck on your route, and be safe!

viv, I don't know what to tell you. All of mine have been accepted and paid, except for the one I did Monday. It has been accepted. And like I also said, if they want a picture of my card they can pound sand.

I'm not saying they weren't. I'm just saying there is a slot (not required for submitting) for the photo.

Got this from the MSC last night:

"Thank you for reaching out,

This is not a bonus. This is a higher reimbursement limit set for certain locations with minimums or more expensive options (salons). "
I haven't done any of these shops. Is there a requirement that you purchase the least expensive item in the location? I can't see the full guidelines unless I accept a shop.

There are several "deli" shops, as in Steuben Deli, in the name of the establishment. These are in the Sassie available shops. I don't know about you but if I go to a deli, it's for a sub or something comparable even if they have a $2.00 knick-knack.

I've also notice it's no longer listed as "special expenses". Apparently they've had multiple questions on it.
You do not have to purchase the lowest priced item. You DO have to purchase something that has a menu price/ shelf tag/ etc. If you go over $8 they don’t change the reimbursement (except for nail salons and sometimes not even then)
If absolutely ZERO items in the store are priced under $8 you can buy a non priced item.

the one I did today asked for a closeup of the receipt where it said "visa debit" and the last 4 digits on the receipt. It didn't mention my card.

My son did one at a Pizza place the other day and they rejected it because they didn't itemize what we purchased on the receipts. But they accepted mine at the barbeque place that says "dept 002" not turkey sandwich on the receipts.

This program is as far from consistent as they can possibly be. But I'm having fun eating random stuff from mom and pop shops that I would normally never go to.

The photos have to be high quality. Not sure those glasses are going to be what they are looking for.
viv is right about the pics, we've tried taking pics with other devices and transferring them, but it doesn't work. The pics have to be hi res and not taken with any other device and transferred.
sestrap thanks....Note: I just did a barber shop and the cheapest purchase item or service was a tube of gel for $9.50. Two were purchased (one cash, one Visa debit). Although the paydate has not yet arrived, the shop does show "received" in the Ipsos Sassie system. But! It also shows a reimbursement of $16.00 (should have been $19.00). Also, has anyone else noticed the (new) proliferation of glass pipi/bong/banger shops for this VISA thing? I have seen four or five of them in my urban area, but just don't think I am YOUNG enough (or maybe I need a redneck makeover!) for these shops!

Your reimbursement most likely won't be adjusted. They insinuate that it will be higher if there is nothing under $8 but in reality they just don't give it to you. If you complain you run the risk of being banned from the project.
my card is the same and I've never had a problem, just sent the side with the numbers. they should be able to tell its a visa by the numbers anyway!
and if you buy something over $8 and in your photos there is something cheaper you'll get rejected. So make sure there is nothing super cheap at the counter (how awkward would it be to buy a sucker or something with a debit card???).

I never had one rejected for that. And lots where I went over $8 with cheap items at the register.
Now if you purchased a NON priced item then yeah, rejection city....

I posted in one of these threads about my experience at one... long story short, the worker followed me out of the shop and down the street, yelling at me to ask why I took his picture. I kept walking and didn't look back, but these types of shops are permanently off my list (I'm 53 yrs old and I bought Snapple).
A good friend complained loudly a couple of times regarding some inequities in the project (all mistakes by Presto!) and got "blocked" or banned. Nothing he could do to explain the situation, even groveling...."sorry buddy, you are just out of luck!"
Does anyone know the exact relationship between IPSOS and PRESTO? It just feels like IPSOS is not "...just another MSC..." using the Presto site and format...
It was my impression that Ipsos owns Presto. That may or may not be true, but it has felt that way since the very beginning of Presto. It was introduced originally by Ipsos in an email, and it was on their news feed that you can only see on their Shopmetrics platform.

did some quick googling, it looks like Presto is created by the maker of Sassie
IPSOS does not own Presto. They are one of many MSCs who post and facilitate jobs on Presto.

Presto is owned by SurfMerchants suite of companies. See below:

I agree that IPSOS has started to decline in their fairness to shoppers. I donr think it is intentional I just think they are missingcthe fact that once they contract with us we are only responsible for our end as we do not control the actions of their client's shop employees. They just denied a closed shop with no reason so I have reached out to ask why since the photo of 12 bagged pumps was submitted. Same issue where an employee decided to charge .50 on one item but not on the identical other.
Same here identical iems but cashier decided to only charge .50 for an item on one even though it was on both and no mention of upcharge. Out my time, cost of items I give away. I am the first one to walk away from a shop I did incorrectly as I dont expect to be paid if I missed a photo. I just wish they would be better at understanding what is not in our control.
