Purple madness

Ok probably overly dramatic subject line but anyway. I received an e-mail yesterday concerning needing someone to do a blind theater check. There was only one problem. They sent me the e-mail Sunday at 1 pm and the first showing of the movie was 1 1/2 hours earlier. The instructions clearly stated that you must attend ALL showings of the movie and you cannot purchase tickets (reimbursed) more than 15 minutes after the movie starts. Sunday was also the last day of a 3 day window in which the checks could be performed. This is not the first time I've seen this type of disorganization from this company. Their movie assignments are particularly convoluted.

If the system automatically notifies shoppers (like Prophet does) when something appears on the job board, and instructions note that the shop had to be started much earlier than when you got that notification, then it's probably a good bet that someone else was already booked and bailed at the last moment. Please don't always assume the MS company is doing something wrong. Thanks.
But also don't assume that the company is going to cut you any slack for arriving late, even if you immediately dropped everything and dashed off to get the job done.
The previous poster could be correct that someone bailed on them but according to the instructions for the job the guidelines could not be followed. I can't imagine getting anything straightened with them on a Sunday afternoon to the point that I would be confident I would be paid.
Good question, wish I knew the answer! I was in the same boat yesterday!

Evaluating and mailing packages since 1994. I am an undercover connoisseur of customer service, a master of disguise in the aisles, and a sworn enemy of subpar experiences. I blend in, observe, and report—because excellence should never be a mystery.

ces1948, let us know how this works out.. I'd be curious to know. I get frequent phone calls asking me to do these shops, but I've not taken the bait yet!
I won't be taking this assignment though I guess the pay is not bad. You'll spend the entire day in the Theater and make $12 for every patron count. Usually 8 showings. You will however have to front the price of a ticket for each showing which they will reimburse.

This usually happens also with "BackUp shoppers? I was not aware the Purple portal had them, is this something new?
I have never done one of these jobs by accepting it online. I know a company called me to do one and told me not to worry about the first one I missed, but was unavailable to do the others and that late a date. I will tell you that if you are still only getting paid the initial $10-$12 they are offering then you are not bargaining enough. I have gotten last minute jobs from these company's getting paid $20-25 a patron count. This means that if the movie was on more then one screen, the cost was even higher. I have walked out of there with over $300, close to $400 dollars for the job. Be careful the one company I used to do this for the company changed management or changed something and they have gotten worse with payment. i have not done jobs with them since xmas of last year, I think.I don't trust when they will pay and how they will pay. They have tried to screw my dad over, and I have threatened to talk with other shoppers and let them know that their company has gone down hill.
