Service Sleuth's latest insanity

You know, they are about the slowest paying MSC on the planet.

But now, now they will not accept receipts and forms scanned as .jpgs. I have to download some crap piece of software (CutePDF) I don't need, to convert every scan into a PDF. WTH???

UGGGGHHHHHH-and this is just in the last 30d, apparently, because I completed a shop for them less than a month ago without this insane requirement.

It's not worth the money some days, I am telling you.

Not sure why they are requiring it, but use Cute PDF at work all the time. The good news it is free software and quick to do.

I just used Photoshop. However, to add to my annoyance level, it won't upload in Firefox. Tried it 6x on two documents.

The irony of this is that Sassie is designed to work best in Firefox. You have to upload the PDFs with Service Sleuth's Sassie/Sherlock open in IE. OMG :/
They may require it for a few reasons. PDF files are scaleable and the client might want to view the documentation in a larger size. Also, JPG quality varies greatly depending on the image quality settings the person uses when saving a file. They may have found that some shoppers upload muddy-looking JPG's full of artifacts and jagged edges. This causes delays as the shopper must be coached on how to rescan or re-shoot the collateral and save it in better quality.

Many scanners/scanner drivers will save directly to PDF format. I know my Canon Pixma will. Consult your documentation.

Tech Savvy, you are really what your name says. I might as well have been reading Greek for all the understanding I could get from your post. ha ha

Well that tidbit about IE may be helpful to me as I am doing a shop for them tomorrow. Hmmm guess that means if I can't get it to upload I will have to download IE.

However I have a Mac, so PDFs are automatically included in the print dialogue box.
Your scanner probably has options of, among other things, what format you want to save in.
They used to require their receipts in PDF form awhile back. I didn't do any assignments with them for a few years, then when I did another one around seven months ago, I was surprised to see I didn't have to convert it to a PDF.
I just finished a movie house and could not upload, receipt too light. I pleaded, and yes, this ONE time they will accept a fax and upload for me... wow I got lucky, but this does cut jobs for me, who ever said you need to be a computer whiz to shop...for the small pay and time to get paid, can't they make it easy on us.

Live consciously....
Irene--

Serviceseluth.com will still accept faxed ticket stubs and concession receipts.
And asking for a receipt when paying cash is a dead giveaway that you are a shopper.

My Canon scanner has a simple drop down option for switching to PDF. I think
sleuth is the only msc requiring PDF's--all others accept JPG scans..
Hi Everyone!

First, thanks TechSavvy, this was a detailed and spot on response as to why we had to make the change smiling smiley. Let me see if I can simplify this so it makes sense for all of us.

The change was made because the PDF's come out clearer when uploaded to SASSIE and are better for the client to see in their reports. With the old uploads we found that over 80% of what was being uploaded was not viewable - which meant shoppers were spending extra time resending receipts via email or fax. However, With PDF's viewing a receipt is rarely a problem and we aren't sending reports back for receipt issues nearly as much as we were before.

We've created a page on our website that explains step by step how to easily create a PDF of your image. There are instructions for both PC & Mac users. Just go to the following page, [www.hsbrands.com]. CutePDF is an accredited trusted software and is easy to use.

Of course, if you need additional help just let us know by emailing receipts@servicesleuth.com.

Thanks!

If you scan the receipt, your scanner should have options. I just uploaded two receipts and had no problem.
Yes, I just had trouble with that. I downloaded the pdf program. I probably have that option on my scanner, but didn't see it. PDF is an odd way to transfer picture files. They were nice when I emailed them, and they called me back the next morning. I think something in windows 7 can do that. My company I work for uses pdfs cause they are clear. I work from home doing chart audits.

PDF's on Internet Explorer are uploading slightly slower than JPG's, but if the quality is that much better, than every msc should require them.
I have found that every msc site that says it works with Firefox, works faster, and better with Chrome. Chrome has the ability to do the pdf conversion...either that, or it's in Window's 7. I've not had nay trouble with Chrome, so some of them needs to reiterate their site notes. Yes, every MSC should use it, but I think they should also use the Chrome browser.
I have trouble when downloading the .wav files created by the Vocalzilla recording software, but only even using Chrome. The files begin downloading, but then fail. They download fine in Firefox and IE, however. I'm not sure if it's a Sassie platform compatibility issue or something else. Anyone else have issues downloading those Vocalzilla files using Chrome?

Kylee-converting the files to PDFs isn't necessarily the problem. I've known how to do that without CutePDF (which I deleted shortly after I realized I didn't need it).

Your IT guys need to fix it so that paperwork can be uploaded in Firefox. NO one should have to switch to Internet Explorer to upload receipts. Sassie itself is designed to work BETTER in Firefox.
Hi 3offthecharts,

I'm not sure why you are having a problem in firefox. I actually don't have explorer installed on my computer and only use firefox myself - I upload PDF's quite frequently for shops I complete.

Send a message to receipts@hsbrands.com and we'll be more than happy to help walk you through so you are able to use the browser of your choosing.

Thanks!

I love CutePdf. I save all of my documentation -- reports -- as Pdf files for my records. In sassie you often have the option to save a pdf, but other programs don't have that option, so CutePDF comes to the rescue. I click to print and from the print dropdown box, select cutePDF instead of my printer. Then I tuck it away in a folder, properly renamed so I can find it later. Couldn't be easier!
I use it, and also MS word does the same thing. I email the giudelines to my email, and the day of the shop, i download it to adobe HTC edition, in my HTC sensation. I look at my phone all the time while I eat, or whatever. I send tweets, so it's normal to look at my phone.
What is Service Sleuth's payment policy? I did my first shops for them 7/11. It was a GREAT shop - vitamin store.
Around 3 months. I have an early June shop I have not received payment for yet. The website indicates that May shops were paid August 1 . . .
Thanks, Flash. I couldn't seem to find it on their webite.

They have a strange way of notifying us of available shops. Sometimes the notify me with shops in my area and other times they don't notify me and there are shops right near me on their website.
Yup. There is only one shop I do for them and it usually posts right around the first of the month. So if I remember, I'll check then. Otherwise, payment is slow enough it is not worth getting excited about.

You'll get paid around Oct 1-6. SLOOOOW.
I dislike it when MSC's hold onto my pay unreasonably long and earn interest on it instead of me.

Especially when the bulk of what they owe me was mine to begin with!! :-)
