Movie Measure

Anyone do jobs for them? I just signed up. When doing trailer checks, do you actually watch the movie? Do they give you a ticket?

I signed up but then realized that not only do you not get to watch movies, you had to stick around the theater and check trailers on multiple showings. AND, it's possible the manager says no or isn't around to sign and you just drove there for nothing. The work seems easy enough but the time for pay looked pretty awful.

No, you just check the trailers and depart. Honestly if there is more than 2 screens for a movie it's probably not worth the time it takes to do everything.
Even if you check the showtimes on Fandango, etc., it still can be tricky when a movie is only shown twice or even once at night on one screen required for your assignment. This means you have to visit the theater twice if there are multiple showings on several screens divided from morning to evening.
I loved doing trailers. I don't know what MM pays, CFA didn't pay well at all. VeriTes was great, they paid well, and were easy, but VERY different to deal with. I did trailer checks and opens for them as often as I could. I always left Friday open so that I could do trailer checks, even on short notice.

Opens were kinda cool, because you only have to see the trailers one time (the trailers are different for different types of showings, like IMAX, and 3D), and then count the folks in the auditorium after the movie starts at each showing. So as the day went by I got to see most of the movie because I would go to count the customers a little bit later in each showing. I never saw a whole movie, but I saw enough of the movie to know whether I wanted to.

I miss going to the theaters. But I had a situation at one theater, one of the kids at the concession counter decided he should give me his employee discount on the cheese sticks that I bought when I had to be there all day. I didn't realize that he was discounting my food, I just paid and went about my business. Then out of the blue, one of the MSCs sent out an email saying that one of the trailer checkers was getting free things and watching movies. I found out later that it was me, but I wasn't watching movies, so I thought they were talking about someone else. But then my favorite theater manager started following me around and I put it together. I never bought another thing at concessions in any theater, and I never stayed inside the theater if there was more than a few minutes between showings. I kept my water and a meal to eat in an ice chest in my car from then on. I used to sit in the upscale restaurant upstairs and crochet because it was always empty before 18:00 and the restrooms were always clean, but that went out the window too when one of the janitorial staff kept following me around.

Honestly that is a horrible manager. I've encountered maybe two or three of those out of the dozens of theaters I do for standee stuff. Most of them are not only happy to see me they actually offered me concessions stuff sometimes.
My horrible manager story is the one who refused to tell me how many seats were in the IMax auditorium. I ended up counting them row by row--525! Found out later he got his jollies making trailer checking harder than it needs to be.
That horrible manager should be reported to your msc. If you no longer do them, I woild report that manager to the theater chain CEO.
