Coyle

I know they are lengthy narratives from what I’ve seen reading here and that doesn’t bother me but any suggestions on how to get picked up for some Coyle assignments?

I have my profile all filled, certification tests for them complete. 97.26% on the hotel one. But all I can seem to get is one phone call shop within past three months.

Any secrets out there to beef up my acceptability would be appreciated.

Maybe you can take a last minute shop from them. I know I get emails in the last week of them pushing to get the work done. If you were to take a harder to fill assignment, that might help you get other assignments. There is no guarantee. I guess you could always email the support email address and ask what tips/tricks you could do to bolster your chances at some of the things you keep getting denied on.
or take one of their easier yet prolific assignments -- here that might be the South African chicken place or the lobby observations
I've done a few dozen shops for them. I slowed way down over the last 8-10 months but having free time again I've started applying and haven't been assigned anything. 98% rating with them from upscale dining, hotels, valet, a good mix of shops.

I'm not seeing all of my applications drop off which makes me think they arent assigning some shops? Previously once a shop was assigned to someone apps would drop from a profile. Purely conjecture but maybe there's some issues after they lost a certain account? Definitely seems like theres been a lot of changes at the least.
The better question is....do they have any self-assign or do they maintain 100% control of who gets the jobs by making everyone apply to any of their jobs and picking the ones they feel are the best fit or have the best track record with them.

i have not done too many assignments for them, but I do not seem to remember any that are self-assign.

The "apply" ones are only good when you have a good track record and good relationship with the scheduler.
I think exactly once I was able to self-assign on a phone call shop. Everything else has been bid and apply.

You raise a good point, maybe there was a scheduler who liked me and they left. I laughed as I thought this but it could be true....
Yeah, maybe the phone calls aren't as big of a deal to them, so they allow those to be self-assigned.

I do think Coyle takes too long to assign shops at times. I have had apps pending for more than 1 week. They should be able to determine who gets the assignment within 3 work days. But maybe I was the only one applying and they were hoping for someone better, so they waited until that happened.
This is odd.

I can't share any secrets as I do not know any. I have not seen casual dining offered in my shopper area for many, many months. Maybe contact support and ask how you may attain some shops?

I don’t know what I did differently but I did get picked up for a bar shop…so we shall see how it goes!

Thanks everyone for the replies.
What do you do if there is an issue during your shop? All I could find was an email.
I am at a local restaurant and it is a bar integrity shop. I am supposed to sit at the front bar order a drink stay for at least 30 min then go to the back bar and do the same. Front bar no issues, I was able to get a seat and complete my assessment. After 45 minutes I went to go to the back bar and there is only 6 seats and all were taken. I waited about 10 minutes then I emailed Coyle to find out what do to; how long am I supposed to wait. I waited a total of 45 minutes, no reply from the company so I left. I don’t want to do the report if I am not going to get paid something. It’s unrealistic for the client to think you can sit at a 6 person bar on a Saturday afternoon in a tourist area.

The shop fee is $40, spent $34 on drinks, and $8 in parking. What would you do?
Sorry to hear that Purplepugs. Coyle does not have weekend shopper support. Did the guidelines allow you to just order a drink at the crowded bar and stand with it? That's what I would have done. In my experience any bar integrity observation except for food service can be made while standing at a bar, and I've managed to also do the food service part when a couch or ledge made it possible or I was just getting finger food.
I haven't had this happen with Coyle. Hopefully, the report will be accepted.

For Coyle, I don't think I've done a standalone bar shop by itself, but always as a bar element of a shop. I tend to avoid weekends and busy times, such as happy hour, if possible.
