Paypal - MS payments

Dee,

You may have been duped? I've changed devices, phone numbers, desktop computers, I've never had a problem recovering my Paypal account on a new device, and I have never had any other Paypal account. There are multiple ways to use the 2 factor ID, you can get a code in email, or in a text message. I think you can use any email address you have attached to your Paypal account also.

I quit using my favorite anti-virus program because their version of 2 factor ID was impossible for me to use. The email address that I opened my account with was an .msn account that no longer exists. I couldn't go back to it if I tried. They said "you're SOL and you have to make a new account and pay the higher price for new subscriptions" Do ya know what I didn't do?

No, no, I called them. The problem arose when I visited their site directly and attempted to log in. All contact was initiated by me to their contact numbers, I was not responding to some nonsense emailed or texted to me, I didn't click on anything outside of their site. I don't fall for that crap.

I realize it sounds ridiculous, it sounded ridiculous to me as it was happening and I kept pointing this out to everyone I spoke with. I was completely shocked when they said no, they couldn't send the code by email to the same email I had used at sign up 10+ years prior because it "isn't secure enough" (but they'd send it by text to someone else?) It was truly that absurd.
Dee,

I have to say that my son and I are both not complaining about that 2 factor ID situation. We have both received text messages with codes because someone tried to access our accounts. I think it's my ex still trying to mess with me (i was good, I corrected it before I posted it), and my son puts himself out there, gives all of his info away online without a second thought, I'm kind of surprised he hasn't lost more than a wallet and received a few strange text messages.
Aha! Moreled cited how that 2 factor step can be useful, which had never occurred to me. Thank you! I always thought it was stupid because if someone stole my phone and wanted to access accounts on it, they would certainly have the phone in their hand when that text code comes.
