Compensation: $19 + $30 PAD

What does PAD stand for. I see this on an offering from The Source. I have never worked for them before so I’m not clear what this means.

Does the shop have a mandatory purchase? Maybe it's a reimbursement
It is extra with them not reimbursement, unless they changed the way they do stuff. It is like a bonus on Sassie shops,
It's extra pay for travel or difficulty. Or when they are desperate to get a job done. BUT, even when they send an email offering PAD, you still have to request it and justify it.
another term for PAD is Poor And Dumb.... :-P

I think I have done 1 or 2 shops for them in 20+ years of shopping. They are definitely not "the source" for my shopping interests.
They used to have a fair amount of stuff in my area but no more. I always had to beat them up, so if stuff would fit in my route and they paid I would do it.
Instead of paying $19 they are paying $49 for this assignment. You have to request the job and state there WILL be pad. This company may bot be the quickest to pay but they are honest and fair.

Extra money...the catch is you're not supposed to claim a milage deduction if you take it but good luck sorting things out. Pretty sure that verbiage is just them covering their butts.
They pay every Wednesday.

I think it is Paid Additional Distance that you can sometimes negotiate with the MSC
I seem to remember "Pre Authorized Distance" pay.
I thought it was pre approved distance, same sentiment as what Sestrahelena posted
My area rarely offers PAD and it probably would not be enough anyway to justify (yet another) required app and learn to navigate it. It's been years since I've worked with them.
What shops are you currently with? I'm registered with Ipsos, Intellishop and RBG. I need more. Thanks!

Me too. Every now and then something pops up paying nothing. Always their MO. I remember the app being very straight forward though. I am quite sure I liked it.
Another word for bonus. But also take morledzep's advice and make sure to request it if taking the shop.

There is a list below of MSCs. Many of us are registered with most of them. That's where you find the "more" that you "need." It's right there, as it has been all along, just scroll down.
I have been working for them for years, one of my favorite companies.
They are pretty responsive (unless you need an answer within 10 min) and pay every Tuesday without fail.
I never take a job without PAD unless it is right in my own town (like within 3 of 4 miles).

After being a long term agent I get daily emails from a couple of schedulers offering jobs with PAD and I either ignore them (if nowhere near where I would normally travel), agree to do the job (via text) or counter with a higher number. Since it is all in writing I can confirm the amount of PAD being offered or requested, if it doesn't show up on the actual job assignment I question it before ever going (only happened once). I rarely click on the job in the portal under these circumstances because it takes too long to get it approved. The scheduler who messaged me can assign it instantly and ususally does so unless they need approval to match my PAD request (occasionally I get turned down).

If it is in a direction that I could do another job or task I will take it quickly for $1 per mile (I factor one way), but when it is in a area I have nothing else to do (or more than 20 miles away) I up the PAD request.

Sometimes they counter my offer, sometimes they decline.

Note: You need to get a background check yearly (cost $10) and complete certifications for the various job types.
They have quite a variety of work at different levels of difficulty. So far I have done all the job types except the Medicare presentations (never available at the right times/places) and the I-9 verificatons.
I think I have done all the others.
These range from simple jobs going undercover into Walmart or Office Max and checking stock on HP printers (make sure you get good photos and closeups) for a $10 fee (generally NO PAD requests honored - I only go if I need to make a Walmart run).
Up to doing a full inspection on a building where you photograph every room, ask detailed questions of the manager/owner and actually take a tape measure and go around the entire building to measure and sketch the footprint.
Those require making an appt. with the contact, can take well over an hour and be a pain if there is difficulty accessing the back /sides of the building due to obstructions, fences etc. but they pay $50 plus any PAD you can get. That one is considered a "D" class job.

These days I stick with the A type, exterior inspections that do not require an appointment as I can do these coming or going from other tasks - as long as it is still light outside.

I highly recommend them as a reputable company with a lot of work available in many areas.
I use a formula when I calculate PAD for them. IRS mileage rate x each mile driven. Plus $20 per hour for driving. Their base fee covers time on site (usually 30 minutes for the basic $17 shops) and reportentry time.. The drive-by photo assignments take me about 15 minutes on site, but I am careful to ask for more PAD when the location has multiple buildings. The Type D shops for $50 can range from simple (empty warehouses) to a real time sink (dentists or doctors with multiple exam rooms, none of which are square or even remotely rectangular). When the latter requires scale drawings, I spend hours doing them at home.

I submit my PAD request. If they accept it, fine. If not, also fine. I have done so many of the $17 ones by now that I rarely get follow-up questions, even for the occasional really odd ones. BTW, I have yet to need to take a photo of "something else suspicious".
