What is your take on verifying Pay Per View sporting events?

LOL! For the audits I am scheduling now, if you give them the exact time you were in there, and your time zone (which should be a no brainer!), then they can write a fight description for you to review. This way, you leave it to the expert to write who was wearing the pink speedo. ;-)

Sorry, the who was in what color shorts thing really got to me. THEY'RE THE BOXING EXPERTS NOT ME!

Apparently I know nothing about boxing either since I thought you meant the color of the shorts for the employees or patrons at the bar!

ETA: I had no idea that they wear speedos for boxing. Pink speedos makes sense for the month of October but not May. Or does bgriffin wear pink speedos?

I totally wear pink speedos!

I did not mean bgriffin wears speedos! Goodness, I am sorry, this is rather embarrassing!

Sibyl2, the fighters wear some kind of speedo shorts for UFC and MMA bouts. For boxing, they have the longer type of shorts.

When I started this post I could have never forseen it turning into a fashion commentary!
MS'ers are a versatile bunch. We can fake talk about any subject.

As for embarrassing, don't worry about it. bgriffin loves the attention. And apparently pink speedos!
Pink ones are my favorites!
Mine are bulge enhancing too!

That just sound like FUN to me! Plus getting to watch the match...Heck, yeah! Are there any in South Louisiana?
I can check for South LA. Shoot me an email. smiling smiley

Just shot you an e-mail too. I'm gonna be on the road this weekend, but if nothing else, it's a great excuse to watch the match!

Somewhere in the Midwest, shopping / auditing full time since 2014. Will use PV-500 for food! smiling smiley
Do you actually get to watch the match? I thought you had to check several locations within the time period of the fight. I don't think you have time to sit back, relax and have a beer.
It is entirely up to you whether or not you want to stay and watch the entire event. It is $250 per location, so if you want to do several locations in one night, there is that possibility as long as there are viable leads in your area. The event is anywhere between 3 and 4 hours, so there is time. But you won't be sent to random locations that have not been checked. Does that make sense?

Wound up getting in one of these. Should be interesting! smiling smiley

@EDS - Edlund Data Services, do the shops you're currently promoting pay even if the location is in compliance (ie they didn't pay, but they aren't showing the event)? It'd suck to block out that time and drive to the location, just to find out they aren't even pirating the event and you don't get paid.
I'm bringing my PV500 to work on Saturday. I go in at noon, off about 10-11...that should give me time to pick up a location if one becomes available in my area without having to go home first.

baconbits, before we give you the go-ahead to go check the location, we check on a list that we receive from the PPV company whether or not the location you are going to is showing the fight illegally. If you are concerned that the location might not be showing the fight at all, and that would be the reason why they're not showing up on our list, you are encouraged to give the place a quick call to ask them if they are showing the event. And if you do not feel comfortable doing that, you could always just let us know and we can call the place for you. I hope this answers your question.

And it looks like I found a location that hasn't paid for the previous Mayweather or Pacquiao fights...so now it's on the watch list. A $50 bonus if they don't sign up for the PPV. And they're charging a cover charge for this fight.

EDS, I'll sign up with y'all after the fight. Taylor contacted me directly on this and I managed to find the location & let him know.

No problem at all! I am just glad you found a location, and will get paid for it! That's always great! smiling smiley

I understand that cover charges are reimbursed by the client...does that reimbursement only cover my own entry? I have a friend that would like to go with me (it would be a road trip to the locations), but I'm guessing they'd have to wait somewhere else?

Also, what happens if you arrive and the location is sold out/at capacity, and you're not able to get in?
The client only reimburses for one cover charge/entry fee, as far as I know. If I find out anything different, I will let you know right away.

I suppose that if it were me and I ran into a situation where the place was at capacity, I would take a video or audio recording asking the person in charge of collecting the cover fee to confirm which event is being shown, ask how many people are in, take any picture possible showing advertisement for the fight (sometimes they will have that taped to the door so regular patrons know it is happening). I would film the packed parking lot if applicable. And I would try to see what is going on through a window if at all possible. This is a tough question. I will ask my company contacts.

I can't imagine an establishment who wasn't worried about paying for a fight they were showing would be worried about hitting their rated capacity.

True BGriffin, but it would be very easy for code enforcement to find out how many PPV cover charges were "sold".

Of course, a truely wily operator would bribe code enforcement with free entry to the show, lol.

Hi baconbits, I apologize for the delay in response to your question.

Here is what I was told: " If they are going to be sold out, or if they already are, then they need to contact us and we'll decide whether we want to cover the cost of the ticket. If we tell someone to buy a ticket early, then we comp the ticket if it cancels. If they can visually see or record a television showing the fight from the outside, they will get at least a partial payment. If they see it, but can't record it, the fee is $150."

I hope this answers your question.

Earlier in the thread you mentioned that it was possible to provide my arrival time at the location and my time zone, and that the event description could be written for me...is that how you prefer to handle the reports, or is it just something you offer to make the reporting a little less difficult for the shopper?

Huh? You did the job on Saturday night, but you haven't done the report yet?
