I have been mystery shopping since 1995 and make a good living at it. My advice: NEVER take a shop that doesn't have a commission. (Even if you are being reimbursed for 100s of dollars worth of cool stuff). WHY? Because the IRS might consider that cool stuff as income. You cannot say that it was just part of a job reimbursement and had no value to you if your pay is $0. Remember, you got paid $0! No job pays $0, therefore the reimbursement will be considered your payment.
