Canceling the schedule?

Hi, I am new shopper & just have done a couple of shops. I did one fast food shop recently with $7.50 + reimbursement (not sure if it was accepted...) and got a phone call from a scheduler that offered me for $8.50 + reimbursement for a location a bit far from my house. I accepted it because I didn't know what would happen if I say "No".

I checked the assignments from the same company today, and now they offer $9.00 + reimbursement for the places even closer to my house than $8.50 one.

I am wondering if I should cancel the $8.50 shop & take the one closer with better pay? I don't know what kind of impact I would get to cancel or reschedule. It seems like I can reschedule or cancel online with this company but never done before.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Usually nothing bad will happen when you decline a shop that is offered to you. Accepting a shop and then canceling because you realized the next day that you could now get a better deal than the one you got might get you into trouble. This MSC usually tracks the number of cancellations and it counts against you. Since you are asking for suggestions, my suggestion would be to honor your commitment and perform the shop since you said that you would. You can always go in and schedule yourself to another shop at a higher rate.

I turn down shops if I don't think they pay enough to tempt me, but if I agree to do the shop, I honor my commitment.
Hi AustinMom,

Thank you for the suggestion! I will do this shop, but I will be careful next time if I take the offer.

Since I am really new, I don't have much choices for self-assigned shops...but O well. sad smiley

Thank you again!
I agree with AustinMom you should do the shop as agreed. Coming to this forum and asking whether you should cancel is a smart move on your part. Congratulations on being aware there might be a problem with cancellation and congratulations on checking it out before you made a move.

Hi MDavisnowell,

Thank you for the kind comment! I feel so encouraged. smiling smiley

There have been too much reading (for me) for these 2 weeks since I started registering MS companies. My brain seems like working slower and slower...I hope I get used soon.
Yep. I have had similar situations with this mcs. They emailed me an offer of 10.00 to complete the the shop. I declined. I then get a call from a scheduler offering me 9.00. Huh?

Don't feel obligated to accept shops when a scheduler calls. Schedulers may be disappointed to get a "sorry, but there's no room in my schedule, but thanks for the opportunity"; however, they'll just move on down their call list. Don't worry about that. Do worry about cancelling. You will be labelled a flake, and that will count against you.
Thank you, Mert!

A bit dummy question, but would it be exactly same for rescheduling, too? (I am not trying to reschedule the one I've got but just curious...)

Thank you!
Rescheduling depends on the MSP. Some have their site set up so that a shopper can reschedule on their own, while with other MSPs you have to request a date change from the scheduler. I love the MSPs where I can change the date on my own (most will only allow one date change). I know a few MSPs (who don't have sites that allow shoppers to change dates) who track the number of times a shopper requests date changes.

Obviously, it's best to do the shop on the requested/assigned date. When life happens and a date change is needed, that's more preferable than flaking, but still may result in a ding.
OIC, I am not trying to reschedule in this point unless something serious comes up...but good to know.

I self-assigned a few shop happens next month...so I was worried a bit if something comes up.

Thank you for the info! smiling smiley
So...I went to shop today with google map.

The zip code on the assigned shop said 90059, but the recipet showed 90220. The address was exactly the same except the zip code.

Does this mean I won't get paid??

Please help me out what I can do to get paid!

Thank you very much.
It's not too unusual for a zip code to be wrong. If the address on the receipt matches the address of your assignment, you are probably all right. If you are concerned about whether the location is correct and whether you will be paid, I would contact the scheduler or whatever contact person is listed in the guidelines.
Thank you very much for your reply, AustinMom...

The phone # is same & if I enter google map to 90059 & 90220 with same address, it leads to the same location. But I was reading someone's post something like google was not the proof to get right address or such before.

I emailed to help desk, but not sure if I would get a reply on time since it is Sat & night time already.

I feel...so...frustrated to be unexperienced!

O well, I will wait their reply.

Thank you! smiling smiley
