Anyone else building Standees at theaters?

I just completed the Safe House standee tonight.

This is one of the newer hybrid standees.

Tonight hybrid meant ultra easy!

Easy as in 15 min easy.

Woohoo! ;-)

@ blaqwumin: Check out Deluxe for building standees. They assign you a theater and all assignments that come into that theater are routed to you. They also pay better than any other company that assigns standees jobs.
Any other standee companies with decent pay? I've gotten pretty adept at constructing ridiculous in-store items and doing big resets.
I just completed a standee that took 4 times the amount of time they quoted me, even with assistance. After they ignored and avoided me during my last assignment, I think this ends my time with this particular company. I've got a lot more complaints, as well, but perhaps that's best for another thread.

Point is, for all of the pain that these are to complete (literally! my fingers are still numb), I'm not trusting them to be forthcoming about the amount of time these take, or the pay for my time anymore. Do not recommend.
The Godzilla one had sooo many tabs that my fingers were numb. I feel your pain. I have a technique that goes pretty fast to get them to fit.
I love putting the standees up , Deluxe Displays changed their name to Vision Media Management , and will not answer calls from employees they had before they changed. They didn't even give a notice, just no more work orders. So what company are you guys talking about? I also do standees for Marketforce, but only on my terms. Looking for another standee company, I really like the freedom of the work.
Yea irealy dig um I do the same when I'm done I am also sweating I like the challenge I push a hard line when ot comes to this kind of work I like to see how long it takes to make that dough ,yea $ 20 ,30 ,40 dollars an hour if you know what your doing u can get it like that mechanically inclined is a must so if not have a seat & watch apro make dough.
Okay, this is one of those moments where I wonder if I don't understand what Shawnymac just said because I'm old or if it just plain doesn't make sense. smiling smiley

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I do Standee's .The last was for the movie HOME. took almost 1h45m . what a mofo. but it was $80ea. And I did 4 in 4 different theaters. Good thing I live on a Island in Hawaii. they are only 20 mins apart.
@Ms_Hawaii_Frank

Hi Frank! Does your scheduler have someone on the B.i to do Standee's? I've never seen jobs for these before.
I've been trying to get with that company but it's difficult. I was talking with an installer last year while I was installing one last year and she said she waited 6 months and they finally contacted her. I did about 35 of them in 2014. I just did 2 this week. One was a mega banner hang and I had to move other banners to make space so it was like installing 3 banners, lol.

I have a website with a photo gallery of all the standees I do in various phases of construction. Just message me and I'll send you the link (I didn't want to spam).
I was in a theater last weekend to watch a movie and had time and wandered the standees. GOSH what horrible construction..... I have made them many many times and these directions were NOT followed.
I did a banner hang last month, luckily had my son with me. Between the two of us, it was fairly quick. But as it was my first, I didn't have any idea how I was supposed to use that plastic thingy with string wound around it. Can anyone enlighten me as to the "correct" way to hang a banner? There weren't any instructions in the box with the banner.
Some are good...the banners and flatcards are easy and quick. Some aren't. I had the Dragon 2 and Star Trek; Into Darkness. Wow were those horrid. Earth to Echo was a disaster.
I only do the banner installs at theaters with a balcony to hang them from. I don't use the nylon string gizmo that comes with them. I bring long zip ties and they go on in seconds with great support. I learned that from another installer. Banner installs take 10 minutes at the most and pay pretty good.
FYI for theaters that don't have spaces to hang a banner thumbtacks usually work really well.

I shoulld really look into some zip ties. Unfortuantely there a couple of theaters that had a balcony design that won't work for zip ties.
I have been doing standees for about 6 years and have done some tough ones . I just did one this week. Pitch Perfect 2. It was a BIG Standee with 3 D people. It was easy , like a big box. I love putting them together.
I saw a contest at a theater where the winner got to take home a full size standees as the gift ( after the movie was done at that theater).
I enjoyed putting together standees, the first one always takes the longest. The directions are sometimes not helpful.
The standees have picked up in my area, I have done the Minions, Sinister, the big Vacation one and the 3-D The Scorch Trials. the last one was a kinda tricky but you have to have room to put together the big ones. I love putting them together like a puzzle , then seeing what you have done, for me its great. The movie goers love it also!
