I just finished reading through the comments of this new person with 13 posts. It is clear that the only purpose of setting up this member account is to attack people in general and one person in particular. He/She only attempts to stir up trouble by telling people to what to post/not to post, asks one person a question and then when she answers tells her she shouldn't post that in public, and then takes a swipe at another country and an entire religion (erroneously linking the country with the religion). In another comment, the person says he/she is shopping in a location that everyone knows is ....
Okay, this is too hard to explain being vague as I am so here goes. This new name is just out to harass LisaSTL. Not only does he/she come right out of the gate taking swipes at her but then posts in the "where are you shopping" thread simply: St. Louis. If he/she is trying to be creepy, it worked. I'm sure Lisa isn't scared, but it's downright stalking/harassing behavior and should not be tolerated. The account should be deactivated and the IP address banned if possible. The other forum members have done a good job at holding back the scathing comments I'm sure are in their heads, but I don't know how long that will last if we don't have the back-up of moderators and the forum administrator. We are trying to respect Jacob J.'s request and back him up but it works both ways.

That's not the only new bridge-dweller to show up today. There's another with a female name that delivered up about three nasty accusative posts in a row on one thread... the posting style reminds me of someone but I can't think of who (brain's too foggy after that bucketful of wine Lisa gave me). I think there are more than one poster with multiple aliases strolling through the forum today.
Time to build a bigger bridge.

I think you missed my point. I certainly haven't switched positions at all. Where have you seen me engaging them? The whole purpose of this meta section, from what JJ has said, was to help him come steer the course of this forum. What do we want to see happen? How should it be moderated or not moderated? How do we handle this situation or that?

I agree, LJ, that the new poster with 13 posts is a stalker with an axe to grind. Seeing and believing that we have a poster intent on making trouble does not mean we have only a choice between ignoring or engaging that poster. Jacob has asked us to report the posts of those we believe are trolls. I have reported several posts of the poster with 13 posts. I've also reported the new female dspeakes mentioned. They appear to me to be the same person, screen names created for two purposes: to agree with the posts of BillBryan and to cause discord. Both posted attacking other posters for "getting off topic" within minutes of registering.
How many forum members have reported these posts? Rather than wasting time discussing them, we should all be voting with the Report button. If no one is bothered enough to report, why would Jacob deactivate?

1. Sadly I believe the limiting of late posts is making this forum a lot less interesting because it requires one to be on daily. Because the main reason I don't frequent in the first place is because people constantly ask the same silly questions. Iin my case it is no fun because I wanted to update my merchandising threads. I also wanted to let someone know about a specific company that was hiring in their area.
2. Trolls don't taste that good. They just sit around and look stupid. But the whole point of mystery shopping in the first place is to weed out all the negative comments in the first place. Since humanity complains 3-11s more than they share positive experiences. To expect something different in this forum is to expect the sun to turn purple and captured farts to power cars. Not going to happen.

Not to appear patriotic but this country was founded on freedom of speech and while one might prefer it wasn't so the true correction is not less speech in censorship but more speech in freedom of expressing differing opinions. This leads to arguments but eventually the cat comes out of the bag and the vast majority will see who the trolls are and who have nuggets of golden wisdom.
4. Booze and typing only leads to monkeys trying to write Shakespeare. Which is why I will take my bucket. Consume it. Have a hangover. Sleep it off. Then I will return to the World Wide Web.

Threads are not being shut down daily, it's many months before a thread will be closed unless one is inflammatory and out of control.
If you want to let someone know something, you can PM them.
If you want to continue an old thread all you have to do is start a new one and copy and paste the link to the old thread into your new thread.

Freedom of speech has to do with freedom from prosecution over political speech. It's a public, governmental thing. you are free to say the emperor has no clothes or Obama is an idiot without being thrown in jail. This forum is not the public square. It is "owned" by Jacob Jans and he has every right to restrict this forum to whatever he wants and to delete posts that are not supporting the purpose for which he built this place.
If you come to my house and say "Heil, Hitler," the government won't arrest you but I will ask you to leave, as is my right. So yes, you have the right to say whatever you want in a public place (except "Fire!" in a movie theater if there is no fire) but people still have the right to control who is allowed to come to their home or business if they can't follow the rules.

Looks like some of you were bad little boys and girls over the last few days. Why was the "how do you block yourself from someone else" thread closed? It seemed very short-lived and not as nasty or confrontational as other threads which are still up and running. And funny how the same person seems to be involved in the multiple threads.
I noticed another thread closed and for the life of me can't figure out why. Seems too many mods are too quick on the trigger. Or is the official policy we are now supposed to join hands and sing Kumbaya rather than have anything remotely resembling a spirited discussion if it involves passionate opinions?
