OMG! CETTIE! CETTIE! (Why do I feel like that scene in The Color Purple where Nettie's screaming, "Celie! Celie!" as Mister is driving her away? LOL)Here I was curious to know if I should bother with those shops. What a surprise. Girl! I was just thinking about you the other day and Lilydale and wondering how you are and how it sucks tha we lost touch! I haven't seen you since MSF and just found this place not too long ago. Woman, what have you been up to? I hope the goats and ghosts and the ghastly shops aren't getting the better of you! winking smiley

I was offered one of the shops and would have qualified, but when I saw it was GfK I declined. I will not work for them because of the way they (mis)treat their shoppers.
If anyone knows who else is offering these I would be interested. I recently quit GfK because they don't respond to emails.
If you would rather not put the name here, my email is tandekimball@hotmail.com

Soft inquiries do not affect your credit score. Hard inquiries do.

If you have any type of credit in your name (mortgage, auto loan, credit card, etc.), your creditor will generally make a soft inquiry at least once per year, if not quarterly, to ensure you are still alive, haven't filed bankruptcy, etc.

Again, these types of inquiries DO NOT affect your FICO score.
The jobs are GFK they are just using other companies to help them post the ads.

It's also important to remember that hard hits only have a SMALL window of "damage" and the damage is relatively small. The more time passes, the less weight they have. After a year, I believe it is, they have no affect on your scores. If you have no intention of buying a car or a new home anytime soon, then even a hard hit is not going to affect you. Your FICO is only important if you're looking for a job, new insurance, or a new line of credit (with cars and mortgages being the heaviest).

For anyone interested, CreditBoards.com is an AWESOME forum that helps you learn about cleaning up your credit and learning about what's important and what's not, how to deal with creditors, which collection agents you should work with and which you shouldn't, whether it'd be better to pay off an old bill or not, and so on. I found it extremely helpful when my husband and I were getting ready to buy a new home. His report had over 20 errors and mine about 10, all which negatively affected our scoure.
two questions: 1) if this isn't GfK, can someone tell me the name of the MSC? Maybe in a PM, if not on the board. 2) can you do them if you are self-employed? Thanks for the help.
Three posts ago someone said it is GFK. I'm not sure, but thought self-employment was not acceptable. Maybe another poster can give you a definitive answer.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

thanks...I see that post. sorry I missed it. sorry it is GfK. I am not comfortable with them.
The instructions I read stated you could be self-employeed as long as you had a spouse that wasn't and who would sign off on the paperwork.
no spouse :-( got rid of him a loonnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg time ago!

I knew I couldn't be the only MSer that was also a CBer. smiling smiley You're not a Fat Wallet-er too, are you?

But yes, a big +1 to Credit Boards. VERY good site that will unveil the mystery of how credit really works.
I am applying for my second one now. It didn't hurt my credit at all, since I stopped before sending anything in.

LOL! I stumbled across Credit Boards by accident but knew a gold mine when I found it. I wish I'd found it years before.

Never heard of Fat Wallet but I'll definitely check it out. Thanks. smiling smiley
I just got approved for one of these shops. It took forever after taking the pre-quiz to get approved. They take their time, I'm assuming it's part of the deal. So after you reply to the email from the scheduler and take the pre-quiz, just be patient. I will provide in the future an update on what happens next.
