Gas stations

Have not yet tried doing gas stations after dark. Wanted to know if any of you do them after dark and how do your pics turn out. Any problems with the pics being accepted..

No problem with acceptance. I discused this with the MSC and they were not concerned...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
As long as the work is done during the specified time frame, I've had no problems with after dark pictures.

I have not completed gas stations after dark for pure safety issues. Gas stations can sometimes be tough enough during the day, especially when trying to get that front or corner image from across the very high traffic intersection. Keep in mind that there is even more risk at night for both gas stations and convenience stores in general...think visually for imaging and for you being seen by drivers...also consider risk of robbery and even drunk drivers...especially around the holidays. I'm not by any means saying that you shouldn't...i'm only expressing that you should place safety first.

Keepin' the deals real.

Although my preference is to do them during daylight,I've completed many in the evening or night, especially now since it gets dark so early. It's easier to stay covert while taking the pix, but it's more difficult to get a good steady picture without sufficient light. Most of the stations have bright enough light around the canopy area so that the overall pictures come out fine. The pumps and other close ups are a bit tougher. I have to fiddle with camera settings a bit to get a good photo. As stated above, unless it's a highway/parkway/freeway location, I think it's safer to do them during the day in city or rural type settings. Just my 2cents.

Good comments by everyone!

Remember each day to "help someone, laugh and learn something new!"
Depends on the gas station you do. Some absolutely allow late night shops with no problems. Others, however, require it to be daylight and not storming. Make sure you are doing one that allows night shops. If they do, then I'll agree, no problems.
Maritz's green gas stations generally have timeframes that ensure they'll get daytime photos, and they can be sticklers over this issue. I've done several CoRI gas audits, both revealed and unrevealed, in the dead of night and they were fine.

So long as it's a safe neighborhood, doing the audits that require photos of each pump can go much easier at night. I intentionally put a 16 pump location at the end of a route so that there's less traffic when getting those photos.

Just remember that when it hits midnight, it's technically "tomorrow" and you'll need an extension if it's your due date. smiling smiley
I recently did one at dusk. Everything came out ok on the pics. The sky was gray, but definitely not fully dark. I got a note saying that they would except this one, but others needed to be done during daylight or they would be rejected.
On the red and blue ones, a cemetery shot at night would pass for overall...winking smiley

I've done both day/night shops, depending on requirements. The only thing I had an issue with on one of the nighttime shops was TOO much light from the canopy - just be sure to check the pics as you go, and take several extras, just in case.
