Anyone out there willing to share their address with me and swap post office packages? My friend I usually ship stupid stuff is ill and in overwhelm so I don't want her having to struggle to the mailbox to only haul in a package full of newspaper or a cake mix or other "stupid stuff".

Just PM me. I had one person's address but can't seem to locate it in my inbox, She sent me carpet samples. lol

I have three to do this afternoon and more later this month.

BTW, it's cheaper for me to send on the east coast than across country.

If you ever need an option pick a nursing home out of the phone book and send last month magazines..... they will use!

What a great idea! I do lots of phone shops for nursing homes and assisted living places. I used to live in a personal care home. I can send them there! Whoo hooooooo. I have today covered but will keep that in mind for future.

I read somewhere on here that somebody mails dog food to animal shelters. Also a good idea.

Oh, cool, sending magazines to nursing homes. I have tons of magazines every month from the decoy mail I do. I haven't done a post office shop cause I couldn't think what to send to anyone. ;0)

You can send unwanted shoes in decent condition to Soles 4 Souls. I'm going to send a package this week with my PO shop.

I bet you could send used but still wearable glasses to your local Lion's Club. I'm not sure they'd make the poundage requirements, but it's an idea! =D

And speaking of shelters, I decided to take that idea and use it. Tomorrow for my eight post offices, four of the packages are going to the shelter we adopted our dog from, with a picture of him a year later

Also consider sending dried beans ie black and rice and macaroni or oatmeal to a food bank outside of your area. The cool thing about that is that the packages are weight marked and usually one or 2 pounds.

If I am far enough away from home, I mail them to myself with a fictitious return address. Then I can reuse.

If needing to send farther than me, I send copy paper to my brother. Sometimes when he is getting low on paper, he'll call and ask if I am sending some soon? LOL.

sherryshops. I do, as well. but I like the idea of sending something to another shoppe (as I did once with Iblessya. I send good stuff to my son from time to time and I send junk to my brother. He doesn't need a thing so we agreed I should send him stuff I was about to throw out. He takes the box and puts it in the trash, upopened. Still...if someone wants, I can send them stuff and they can turn around and send it back. Or visa versa. Easy peasy. PLMK

I love all these ideas but the only post office shops I've been assigned, I had to send it back to the company. Happy Easter, etc.

It's mail I get from Hauser. They pay me 25¢ to enter each piece I receive. It's a company that tracks mailing lists I think. I'm not really sure. I guess that way the company that sells the mailing lists can tell if the person who bought the list uses it more than one time.

I usually get a check for about $120 every 3 months or so. I've been doing it for about 8 years, You have to keep the mail for 6 months to see if they have any question about the entry. It's super easy.

I also get free magazines from this that I get to keep, hence the suggestion to send them to nursing homes. I get Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, Food & Wine, Travel & Leisure and a couple of style magazines. Those are expensive if you have to buy the, too. LOL

If anyone wants any info on this, let me know and I'll give you the link.

I don't see what the big hubbub is about. I can send the packages back to myself as long as I don't use a post office with the same zip code as mine. Any location other than your own zip code is automatically at least zone 2. Of course this only applies to the A's, B's, D's and E's, which are the only shops I do for post offices. If you live in a metro area like Atlanta or Chicago, simply do any post offices that don't have the same five-digit zip as yours. Most post office locations in large cities have different five-digit zip codes except some of the mall postal stores.

Not necessarily. Use mine for example. I am in zip 585xx and anything in 585xx-586xx (586xx is at least 100 miles away),as well as 57xxx (different state..) are all showing Zone 1*.

I don't know what NDC is, but I rather not find out the hard way and have them decline it.

I am still willing to buddy up with someone. My son doesn't really want me sending him stuff, nor does my brother. I will only send stuff to myself if I can be absolutely sure it is not zone 1. And, I think Kai is right. I know a few zip codes (within 20 miles of my hometown) are all zone 1. I think Kai is right. I live in metro Louisville and if I ship to any zip code within the Louisville metro area it is zone 0. I can't ship to home if I am shopping amu Louisville post office or any of its suburbs. I have to leave the county to get to zone 1.
I've wound up with lots of buddies. Those of you who think it's a good idea, just let people know in PM and you can hook up with plenty. Remember to try to stay within about 500 miles of home so you don't pay extra to ship. The whole idea is to be able to ship nonsensical stuff to someone that doesn't cost anythingm, thus keeping more profit for yourself.

I'm doing two more scenario A's on Wednesday and have packed up my Sunday paper to ship to buddies. They will then be able to stuff another envelope with my envelope without even opening it because they will know automatically that the ones from me are the correct weight.

I live in metro Atlanta but I can ship to any other zip code in the metro area and it is considered zone 1. Of course, my city is not Atlanta, it is a suburb, so maybe that makes a difference.

My suggestion would be to get a P.O. Box at a nearby post office that is not Louisville. You can claim the cost of the PO Box on your taxes as an office expense, if need be. Just make sure the box is large enough to hold two or three of the smaller boxes in case you can't get to it every day.

I haven't done the PO jobs yet, but if anyone an addy in Texas, lmk!

I have gotten tons of freebie magazines over here and I am glad I read this thread. Giving them to a nursing home would be a great idea!

If you can find a classroom teacher who is willing, you can create mystery boxes of artifacts from your area - you know, small rocks, shells or sand if you live near a beach, a leaf or part of a map, local tourist brochures, part of a newspaper - clues to a location. The object is for the kids (usually 3rd-8th grade) to use deductive reasoning to nail the location. Don't forget to put in GPS coordinates if you can for the final solution.

What about checking some shelters and/or charity shops out of town that could use the donations and just send them unwanted items you have like clothes you no longer wear, household articles, etc.?

How many times do you get asked clarifications? What are they in regards to? I'm guessing it wouldn't be about the content of the magazine so could you keep just the cover page of the magazine?

I used to be on Hauser's list to do these but I don't remember if I got offered to do it. It seems to me they offered but then something happened so the offer was rescinded within the first few week or so of agreeing to do it. I know storing it for six months could've been a problem at one time but now I've got room.
