I just went into an Aldi's for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Based on the size of that store and the minimal number of employees, it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. On the other hand, there wasn't a ton of stuff I would buy either. They certainly don't seem to have the same philosophy for their food as their sister store Trader Joe's

No but for basics its fine and they have some really cool products at the Holidays. There is a Ghiradelli Cookie mix (not Christmassy) that is in their stores only in November/December and it is absolutely delicious.
I also buy the trash bags there as I can't stand paying the price of bags now and they are every bit as good/sturdy as Glad and Hefty and they come in right around the reimbursement price. Same for their disinfectant wipes.

I did find a couple of stock up items that were good. It was also surprising what they didn't carry. I looked for heavy cream and they said it was seasonal, huh! Going to TJ's gives me the freedom of not having to read every ingredient on every item since their policy is no trans fats and no high fructose corn syrup. I found a lot of products at Aldi's that have one or both. I definitely will have to be more careful there. Do they carry Method cleaning items? If so, that would be another good stock up item for me.
There is one really close to me now. When I see a shop for it I will definitely give it a try

No, but they may occasionally carry the equivalent. They rarely have nationally name-branded items, but their store brand is equal or better for many items. I don't go there for organics, because their selection of those items is usually small, and varies, but there's a LOT there we do like. Aldi has saved us a bunch of money over the years! I'm so happy to now get paid for shopping there!

I don't go there for organics, because their selection of those items is usually small, and varies, but there's a LOT there we do like. Aldi has saved us a bunch of money over the years! Their store brands are probably more the equivalent of things like Lysol or Pine Sol. Method is too different. It's probably more expensive, but worth every penny to me
I don't know if bringing bags is a requirement or not. I keep my large collection of reusable bags in the trunk and carry them in with me out of habit. Where the grocery stores and even Target are used to it, the bags still catch them off guard when I go into places like Ulta or Macy's, LOL!

Lisa, shopping at Aldi's takes a little practice. I've learned what to avoid and what's good. Their food has gotten better over the years. For the most part their fresh fruits and veggies are good. Their tomatoes and bananas do require careful inspection because of bruising. Their clementines are awesome. Their pears, watermelon, apples, broccoli (most the time), and all else are pretty good. There are a number of dairy items I like, too.
They used to have certain meats I'd avoid. My kids love their chicken nuggets and they have the stuffed breaded chicken breasts for $1 that's normally $3 each for the brand name. I think Barbar is one brand...or is that the Aldi's brand? It's the broccoli, the Cordon Bleu, and the Kiev. They're awesome when I want a decent meal without all the extra prep work.
Products with chocolate in them...very few do I like. It's usually cheap chocolate. Or immitation chocolate? Is there such a thing? Kinda waxy. Love their sweet potato fries and I rarely buy the sweet potato chips because I can eat a bag in one day if I'm not careful.
So hit or miss. The more you shop, the more you learn.

Speaking of Churches...the 3 locations I do are in bad areas and 9 out of 10 times an altercation takes place because they run out of spicy chicken!I mean the manager is going to call the cops...seriously....lol..
Now, back to Aldi...I like Aldi but the fee is about a gallon of gas to get there.....
