Question about an AboutFace New Homes and Competitor Shops.

I have taken two assignments with AboutFace. Obviously I cannot mention the client (not sure if I can mention the competitor, so I won't) which means this might be confusing. I am to shop both client and competitor, both are new home builders. Both supposedly have homes under construction and inventory homes.

For the competitor I am supposed to get several things, including a worksheet and a list of inventory homes. I am supposed to negotiate a home. And a whole bunch of other stuff.

I am confused! I did a shop like this for the client a year ago and it didn't sem so complicated.

Has anyone done these shops before? If so, I could really use some guidance. I am traveling a distance to do them and am getting a sick to my stomach feeling. I am not sure if I am overthinking this, or what.

If anyone knows the shops and can give me some guidance...PLEASE.

Jersey, I recommend doing first one, and then doing report before doing second.
I think your over thinking, they will be pretty much the same, although I have
never seen them for AF, I do them for another MSC. You'll be fine.

Live consciously....
Thanks I appreciate your getting back to me on this Irene.

Much more helpful than SPAM about designer handbags. WTF?

AboutFace does this type of shop?? All I ever see from them are the $10-12 bookstore type shops so I'm surprised. Are they video shops?

Shopping Southern Ontario (Canada) and Western New York (U.S.A.)!
Angel No, they do these. Last year I did one....for the client. It seemed fairly easy. I had to take a tour and get a written quote, a business card, and a few brochures. I had to ask "why you guys and not NAME A COMPETITOR. Seemed very straight-forward. The hardest part was driving there. Good pay, so I was willing to go a distance.

This seems a lot more involved. At least the competitor part. I have to ask about incentives. I am confused because I am supposed to negotiate the price, get a written quote, but not a proposal, get incentives in writing. And brochures or pamphlets.

It just doesn't feel right.

Again, I am probably overthinking it. But at this moment I do not feel comfortable doing this shop.

The scheduler answered my first round of questions but not the second. Then I got a survey asking if they were doing a good job.
I'm wondering when About Face is going to be doing the luxury designer handbag shops. $30 a shop plus with a $600 reimbursement? LOL.
Eric. Seriously? You're supposed to spend $600 for the shop. NWIH, at least not for me. If I had $600 floating around in my checking account I wouldn't need to be mystery shopping! Just saying.

I take it noone has done these competitor shops. I emailed another scheduler, hoping to get some answers/clarification. It puzzles/concerns me that I am not getting the clarification I need. I guess they might not want to bother with me if I have questions. But, I do have questions. Lots of them. And I am not gonna do this shop if I am not clear on what I am supposed to do. The shop is on Thursday. If I don't get some responses by the end of business tomorrow, I am going to cancel.
Hi Jersey,
If you want to reach out to Dan Griffin - dan.griffin@aboutfacecorp.com, he will be able to help you with any questions you may have! If you call the office, he can be reached at extension 713.
thanks.

I did talk to him and feel much better. I do tend to over think things. But this was REALLY confusing. Feel confident now.
