I tried to do a location search on the Aldi's web site, but you have to actually enter a city, they don't just show you a map with all of the locations. Does anyone know if they have any in Southern California? I read somewhere that Aldi's owns Trader Joe's. I'd love to shop them.
Are you kidding me? Aldi's is shopped ?
I just started shopping there. Cauliflower and Broccoli for $1 insted of $2.98 at
Walmart ! Even picked up ice cream pops for $1.99 instead of $4.98.

Yes they do own Trader Joe's and there is a map showing the states on their FAQ page. They are in the Midwest down to Texas (except Arkansas and Louisiana) and east.

Oh Lisa, I didn't know that Jacob doesn't like that by PM. Thanks. My bad. I asked cause I've seen other people ask for the info by PM. I'll start googling grinning smiley

Evil empire? Gee. Do you mean an MSC or Walmart ?
Walmart. But now that I think about it there may be an MSC or two who would qualify as well, LOL!

I picked up two Aldi's and their packaged pies was at 29 cents. Blah...it tasted awful. I am still learningn to figure out what food to buy and what not to buy in there. Oh, don't buy their brand of Spam. I bought strawberries and they were good. Thank you to the ms who told me the report had changed (it used to be overly long and difficult) and now I happily pick them up.

Low paying shopsad smiley Shorter reportsmiling smiley There's not a lot at Aldi I'll buy, even on a shop. Milk, some boxed cereals, some paper products, kiwi 6/.99, salt and pepper, tomato cages. . .
@Mert, I think I am safest shopping non-food products. I found mulch in one store and that was great, but it's seasonal, like the tomato cages (if only I can grow tomatoes).

Thanks, all! I don't have Aldi's in my area, but my parents do. I'm starting a potential shop list for when I go next. Mom loves that store!
I do not buy meat or chicken but I do buy cheese, vegies, fruit, canned, flowers, chocolate, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, batteries, Special purchase and appliances.
I get the garbage bags every shop to Aldi's. They are good quality, around the amount of the reimbursement, and less expensive that Glad or Hefty. I have a stack but we have a home and a condo so that helps with both and you never know when the shops will dry up and then I would be paying full price for my garbage bags.

I am not a fan of Aldi (and am somewhat horrified to learn that they own Trader Joe's!!!), but my initial reaction was, "wow. is it a shop to time how many hours you spend waiting in line?!"
The Aldi's I shop sometimes have longer lines but I have only once had more than a 3-4 minute wait.

I think their fresh vegetables are a great bargain. They even had tomatoes ripened on the vine, with the vine still attached for a low low price. They cost an arm and a leg in most grocery stores. Mind you, they weren't huge, but with the huge ones you always have tomato left over that goes rotten in the fridge anyway.
I am surprised they own Trader Joe's also. I agree Shoppingalong that their veggies/fruits are not bad. I buy my garbage bags from GFS shops as they have a much larger reimbursement.

I'm interrested in this mystery shop. I live in Asheville,N.C. 28730. I would be willing to do any shops available .
In the Asheville and surrounding area.
Thank You so much!
Hi ruht. You're in a forum of fellow mystery shoppers. We all must search for shops in our neck of the woods with MSPs we're signed with. This business is not so easy as to ask that jobs in your town be provided to you. Sorry! If you're interested in mystery shopping, start reading this forum. Then apply with many MSPs - you never know which MSP shops whom, and you can never be signed with too many.

Good luck.
I do it, it's a fee of about $5 and a reimbursement of $5. I usually get whatever produce is on sale that week. I got meat once and it was fine.
I've become a regular customer of Aldi's too. There is one a block from my office and it is Soooo easy to pull in there after work and come up with something for dinner when I've not put out something in the morning.
I've been doing Aldi shops and enjoying the groceries I buy. The produce usually is very good and the canned/packaged products seem to be comparable to other store brands. Haven't tried the fresh meats.

No fee, no shop.
They had some of their Special Buy items reduced today. I got a 3 tier electric steamer - new - for $5.99. As far as their normal sale items: head of cabbage 99 cents, head of cauliflower 99 cents, 3 lbs. of small red potatoes 79 cents. I got some great deals today.
The fee and reimbursement is $9 total. I will take the $9 discount or have them buy my gas to get there and leave a little over to put towards my shopping. If you are going there anyway, why not?

I can not tell you my reservation about doing this shop without revealing the MSP, but it is a short report and I suggest you save it often, each page, to avoid loosing it. Stlll you may get an e-mail telling you that you sent a blank report and you have to submit the report that allegedly you did not send. Print the report before sending.
Aldi DOES NOT own Trader Joe's. However, both stores are owned by the same FAMILY in Germany. But, they're different branches of the same family.

There was an article about this in a business magazine a year or so ago. I'm not trying to bust any chops here, I'm only trying to clarify a common misunderstanding.

Personally, I like Aldi and sing it's praises often. The produce is hit or miss, but when it hits, it really hits. The prices are awesome! I usually shop at Aldi first and then go to Kroger to complete my shopping order.

Also, since I pick up different Aldi stores, I've noticed that stores in nicer neighborhoods have HIGHER prices than stores in the same market, but in lower-income neighborhoods. Prices will be different on staples like milk and eggs. 30 to 50 cents different. This is another unintended consequence of mystery shopping. Without it, I would have never known that different stores in the same chain in the same market would have different prices. I also wouldn't have known that each Kroger store is different in how and when they mark down merchandise.

Back to Aldi, I snap them up at $9 each, but love them when they get bonused to $20!
