Gas Station audits

Now that the kids are going back to school I'm thinking about trying to do some. Can you all give me some tips and input on the difficulty of doing this type of shop and if it is worth it? The pay is higher for this kind of shop and I'm wondering if it's because the shop is extra difficult or they are just being nice :-)

Any tips or advice is welcome.

There are several different companies that do these type shops. They can be a little tricky the first few you do, but once you get the hang of them, they are fine.It involves taking pictures, the amount depends on the MSC and the client. I personally like them and do a lot of them.

Thanks for replying, I really appreciate (and need) the input. I'm kind of new to MS and I've never done this type of thing before.

Barbage is right, you just get into the pattern of doing them and they become really easy.
I do mainly gas station audits. I do around 40 a month (when the quarterly audits are on).
I do Shell, Valero, Conoco and Cenix I am still lokking for more MCS that do other brands. They all focus on different aspects. If you have specific question on what to and how to you can pm me the questions. Of course do not ask me what MSC does what please.

Shopper and auditor since March 2012.

I do them willingly for the right amount. They're like anything else--the more you do, the easier they are.

The thing that can make these easier is that you can have a checklist to make certain that you don't skip any steps. You will need to be absolutely certain to get every required picture. If you miss even one they will send you back or not pay you.

There is at least one company that requires you to have the time/date stamp on your pictures. You may want to play with it to see if your camera allows you to show it on your pics. Most newer cameras will save the time date info with the picture, but won't display it on the pic. If your camera doesn't there are a few different work arounds. I would try it out and see what works well for you, before heading out on that first shop.

Thank you that's a good suggestion.

hello to everyone;

if posting this here is not the right place, i am hoping to get guidance from the computer savvy individuals! i am a 14 yr veteran of mystery shopping, started when they were done by fax! took off year or two when they went to computers & been doing it online now for maybe four years.

this is the first time i have ever joined a forum,(not even on mystery shopping sites in the past) so please excuse my ignorance.

can anyone give me step by step instructions as to how to a) introduce myself to other shoppers, areas, or the most common steps people take?

thank you!

Hello Orchid - You've taken the first step correctly by saying hello. Welcome, and I hope you'll be posting often.

I'm not sure exactly what you want to know about computers, or what you already know. Since you posted, you obviously have access to a computer and you're familiar with using the internet, so you probably know enough to get started and get by. Can you be more specific about exactly what you're trying to figure out? I am not a technical person with a lot of savvy, but we have some techies on the board who will answer you if you ask a specific question.

It is against our ICAs to reveal clients. It is also against forum rules. With investigation here and signing up with lots of companies you will be able to find out in no time.
Gas shops are great, just beware of bodies laying in the shrubbery.
