I see a few and am wondering if they are way more work then the $12 pay?? anybody? I hate when you can't read the full instructions BEF you take the job.

I have 8 scheduled. I have only glanced at the shop instructions but it seems to to be preety easy. You are looking to make sure they have the correct POP. Mine aren't scheduled till Saturday so I probably won't read the instructions thoroughly until Friday.
Just did my first one. There were three in my area, all of which I applied for, but was only assigned the one.

The audit itself is easy as all get-out. Mine was in a Best Buy, and the store does not have ONE. SINGLE. BUSINESS. CARD!!!!!

The audit part was over in less than 10 minutes. It took 20 more trying to find a business card. I even came up with brief simple scenarios at the Geek Squad desk, the computer desk, and the appliance desk so that I could ask for a business card. I was told they didn't have any. I just got handwritten names/phone numbers on scraps of paper. The guidelines say you can use a brochure from the store (preferably the Comcast one) that has that location's address on it. Not a single brochure, or anything else that's available for customers to take, throughout the entire store, had this specific location's address on it. I checked. I was getting so aggravated, and was getting late for somewhere else I had to be, that I made a small purchase. As most of you are aware, the cheapest thing to be had is a candy bar for $1.19.

I was NOT happy spending that much extra time in the store, and especially NOT happy making a purchase to get something that would have the store's address on it. And then the receipt DOESN'T HAVE THE STREET ADDRESS ON IT!!! Only the store number and city/state/zip. Even the phone number is an 888 number ~ not one to this specific store.

I sent a note to the scheduler to let them know all of this. As an aside, I used no all-caps type, and remained perfectly calm and reasonable. I only vented a little bit here. Heh. smiling smiley

One of the locations I'd applied for was a Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if they have business cards there, either. The other was for an independent appliance store -- now *there* I'm almost positive they would have business cards.

The store number is a unique identifier just like the street address, so the MSC certainly *should* accept it. If you run into that again, maybe take a picture of the storefront clearly showing the street number as additional POV. Not much else you can do - if they don't have business cards, they don't have business cards. If their system is set to print a receipt without a street address (which many of them do), nothing you can do about that either. Hope the MSC is reasonable with you. smiling smiley
These shops already require a storefront exterior photo PLUS the Comcast brochure or business card. I performed my first one yesterday and I was given the Comcast rep's business card (not a Best Buy business card) without even asking for one.

Since the guidelines do not say anything about making a purchase, I am curious if the MSC and/or client will accept the purchase receipt as POV. Please let us know what happens.

Well, I heard back from the MSC the next morning. They will reimburse $1.19 this time!

The person writing on behalf of the MSC continued: "In the future, there are other creative ways you can handle this such as taking a photo of the address on the front door and uploading it or handwriting the address on a brochure and taking a photo and uploading it, both of which have been done by other shoppers."

Now, the guidelines *did* say they would accept a "product brochure with the address of the location clearly printed on the brochure". I simply hadn't taken this to mean that *I* could just go and hand-write the address on the brochure. I thought the location's address had to be actually printed on there, like stamped on or something.

As for the photo showing the front with the street number, I would have had to be kinda obvious, and it asked one to remain covert. I did get the overall storefront photo as required, because I could park further away to do that.

Oh, and this location didn't have a staffed Comcast area.

But anyway, this is a new-to-me MSC. I was very pleased and thankful they handled the shop this way for me. smiling smiley

I performed a second Comcast shop the other day. This time, there was no Comcast desk or rep; they have an agreement with one of their competitors. I ran into the no business card/address problem at this location. I went to the Customer Service desk and asked for a business card because I was comparison shopping for a new flat screen TV and I wanted to keep track of their store because I was pleased with their selection. (Sucking up almost always works!)

The CSR searched high and low for a damn Best Buy business card. Then we found the mother- lode. Hidden behind a sign at one of the cash registers, there was an acrylic card holder with 8-10 slots and tons of business cards. Many of them were for their corporate office located in another state but I did find one for the store I was shopping. :-)
