Shipping shops

I would like to start doing the shipping shops but not sure if its worth it for all the prep work. What kind of boxes do you guys get? Does it work out to make you money after all is said and done?

I get any kind of box that isn't large and can stand up to being mailed. I can get some at my day job, or save some from purchases or from Post Office buddies. For me it does work out for money because you can be in and out in as 4-5 minutes if there is no line. The time to enter the shops are reasonable as well. In addition, you can mail packages that you actually need to mail and get full or partial reimbursement.

But you are right, there is a learning curve because of all the client specific information and the significant detail of the observations. If you are doing one or two every few months, it may not be worth it. However, if you want to add these to your regular routine, I find them quick and easy (once you have learned the details and pay requisite attention during the shop) there are many locations that are shopped frequently.

me third! I do postal shops every chance I get, in fact I carry packages in the car so I'm ready to go (I mail stuff to myself or my sister back and forth if I don't have a "real" package to send).

Are there different shops than the food bank and the regular shipping one? I signed up and then in the guidelines of both my shops it said they had to be in a different region. :/

Type A just need to be a different zip code (zone 1) or further. Type C (food bank)need to be at least "Zone 5" from your zip code.

I do the PO shops often. The one at the beach three miles away is always mine. I guess because no body else lives close enough to get it before me. It's small and mostly used by people just buying stamps to mail postcards from their vacation. I think they're easy since it's full reimbursement and still pays $10 for a quick, easy report. I never buy boxes unless it's a B shop when it's required. I just save anything I come across knowing it will eventually get used.

I love doing Post Office shops! I'll take as many as I can get, and love adding them to a route when out of town, even.

Same here! When you are out of own, you can mail souvenirs back to yourself!

I have a shelf where I have a few of the boxes already filled with cans of soup and boxes of pasta. I just rip off the old post stickers and resend them over and over, lol.

Easy peasy, love 'em.
