I need advice about smartphone.

Well Cricket showed how useful it was a smartphone in mystery shopping. I would use the cheap smartphone to do audits on the spot. Now I had to change carrier and I got a smartphone. I got a Galaxy 4 since it has a very good camera and so I thought I can take pictures and send them immediately. Well I found two problems.
1_ No date stamp, so some autits get cut out of the smartphone option. I found apps to add stamps, but you have to add it to every single picture and that is a waste of time.
2_ The size. Yes beautiful pictures, but S4 does not have a very small size and the MSC will not accept those sizes. Even the lower definition available is still a big file.

Has any of you tried a S4 or overcome the same problem with another smartphone?

There is an app where you click on the app first and then your camera through the app and it adds the time right then and there. Not at all time consuming.

I download the pictures to my laptop through Dropbox and then use Gena Photostamper and date stamp the entire file. Just takes a few seconds.
Liz do you happen to know the name of that app?
Jpgilham I want to do the report on the spot and send them too. If I have too download the picture on my laptop I just go on and keep using my digital camera. The idea is to enter the answers of the audit, take the picture with the phone and attach it to the report immediately. But galaxy creates pictures too big in size.
I use TimeStamp It Lite (I have an iPhone, but they might have it for Android too).
Thanks Tlt, but it seems there is not for Android.
I found a couple of apps worth a shot (resize me & eCamera). I will let you know how it goes. I have a business verification today and if it all goes fine I will get out of the location with the report already sent in smiling smiley (But I will take double pictures, I will carry my good ol camera as well hee hee)
I just tried TimeStamp. It didn't work on either a new photo or one saved on my phone and was a tedious process. Do you use it for photo audits?

I don't think the time stamp is set up by default; you have to go to settings and turn it on. Once it is on though, you just take pictures with the app and they will all have a time stamp on them; you don't have to edit and put it on after taking the pictures. The time stamp will be small and in the bottom left. You can also change the color of the stamp, which I like because the default black obviously doesn't show up on a dark image.

Also, it will appear (at least on my phone) as though the time stamp is cut off, but when you upload the photo onto your computer, you'll see the full date and time.
Ok. I can remove resize me. eCamera is a must have for who does the audits with an android. It lets you pick amongs several file size (so no need to resize). You start that app instead of hitting the camera button. You can turn on/off the stamps; select the folder where to safe the files; control the flash. The only thing missing is the comand for a still hand photo, but other than that works awsome. I filled the report, took the picture and saved them in a folder with the assignment ID name and when I needed a pictured in the report I hit upload and place the picture there. Maybe takes me a bit longer doing reports like this, but when i get home all I have to do is entering the jobs in my work sheet and I am all for my family.

On the side not...tMobile freaking lied to me. They told me data was slow in the north-western part of my state. Heck the slow, no connection at all. I use Wifi in my town, but in other towns west my S4 is basically useless sad smiley screw t-mobile who screwed me.

Oh and yes, I use it for the audits that require time stamps.
I just downloaded the app and used it to take a test picture. It took the pix from the app and I added the time and date but it did not show up when I downloaded it. I had to take the picture, hit options, add the date and save but when I downloaded it all I got was the pix. What am I doing wrong?
I use Stamp Camera Ad. Very easy once you figure out the inital setup.

As for resizing, I upload my photos using the Photobucket app, which automatically resizes them, allows me to access and upload them from my laptop, and keeps them all in cloud storage.
I wasted 2 hours for a freaking audit today. Dear TMobile's map covers the whole north of my state with a 2G. They told me it is slow, but I said who cares, as long as I can send pictures in. So far in a 300 miles radius I keep getting a "no connection"...yea 2G.

Technically I have met another problem. The flash of the smartphones is not a real flash and you pay for it. When I try to take a close picture of a face in a completely dark room it is wonderful, but when you have a wide area bright and you need to brighten up a little (like decals that appear dark on a door or a pump) the flash is as if it did not exist.
Bah....they just admitted on the phone that the coverage map says my state has data coverage, but they actually don't cover it. So there is not carrier in my state than the carriers for rich people (Att and Verizon). It sux...
italiano- your phone camera should have different settings for different lighting situations. I've found a wealth of help in forums when I have questions about the things my phone can do. I googled "Galaxy 4s camera settings" and found a lot of really useful tips that you might find helpful. I personally have a Nexus 4 and I'm still learning all the settings on the camera.

I agree with your points when it comes to T-Mobile. I switched from Verizon recently because I just couldn't afford it anymore. I miss my signal but I sure don't miss the bill! I just learn to adjust but I do hate it.
