Other Cricket shoppers.. Beware of scam calls.

As of recent, I've gotten repeated phone calls from a 201 number. I looked them up and found out they are scam. They call pretending to be Cricket, ask if you are happy with your service, ask about your bill, and then ask for your account's pin number. They apparently use this to get in to your account. What they do with your account, I'm not sure, but I would stay away from the number. Or have good fun like one guy and give them all false information to waste their time.

You might want to check out this website - www.419eater.com, where the members string along scammers and publish their "work" stringing along mostly (nothing racial here, I mention this as this is the country where most of the scams come from but certainly not the only country) Nigerian scammers. Perhaps you know the drill? Widow dying of cancer, wealthy merchant dying of colon cancer, young refugee who inherited millions from her poisoned father needs your help to move her money out of the country, etc etc etc. I never fail to get a laugh out of this site when I lurk there reading the scambaits as they are called.
Thanks for the information. I have received similar calls, too, purportedly from different companies asking for my personal information to "verify my identity." LOL! Although several people have become victims to this particular scam, I think this one's easy to recognize. Legit companies do not use unknown numbers, claim to be some company and demand for account information. It's just too obvious.
I agree about messing with the caller. It keeps the scammer on the phone and you get to save the next victim by wasting their time. But more important than playing a joke, I suggest you report it to [www.callercenter.com] and post the phone number there to raise a warning.
There are many payday loan scams as well. Many people at work have been victims of them and never even took out the actual loans. The callers are abusive and threatening. I've even been threatened to be shot for not putting the calls through to the employee. They are definitely sitting in a room overseas somewhere. They also spoof the number on the caller ID. I mess with those jerks on a daily basis. smiling smiley When I get tired, our Director of Security gets in on the action.
It's almost as funny as those emails that start with HUGE letters....this is not SPAM or a SCAM.....bwaaa haaa
Anyone notice under "My Account" on the phone a phone number other than the cell phone number?
