Creepy phone calls

OK, so I've been working with a MSC since last month on some telephone shops. I've been doing them since they are easy and a good pay for the time invested. They are calls to funeral homes and cemeteries in Spanish.

Boy, I've "killed" so many non-existent people that it now feels natural... I'm amazed at how some people in the industry are so insensible about someone's death...

Anyway... Creepy!

BTW, is anyone else doing these shops?

No, because they're creepy. You can have them all.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
When I was a teenager i worked cleaning a morgue one summer. The next i worked at a major medical center continuing education department where I pretty much placed body parts (which ever was th part they were studying) on tables.
If it pays I do creepy
@stilllearning Thx! =)

@holliscary OK, I guess I'd draw the line there... Or maybe not?

I have done some of this shops... But I have not done the ones in Spanish because my zip code is not in the 99 miles range from the closest one sad smiley ... The Spanish one would be just perfect for me....
Some day when it's snowing out and I'm bored I'm going to do a bunch of phone shops. I wouldn't mind doing funeral home shops. My ex used to work as a funeral escort so I tend to see the funeral homes as just another industry. (And why do they call them "homes" when nobody "lives" there?)

Time to build a bigger bridge.
@amberngriffinco No way! Seriously? In need or near need?

My husband's dad passed away about a month ago. Since that time, a Rose Hills "Counselor" has called three times leaving messages to ask about the "customer service". When I finally picked up the phone, he asked one question about customer service and then moved on for the kill to ask about our plans and how he could help us with these. He had a fabricated oh so sad voice and, yes, it was creepy. It kind of reminded me of the scene from the original Scrooge movie where the undertaker was waiting with the family of a near dead person in wait. Same rehearsed voice.
@KathyC - Sad as it might sound, they do have scripts, are requested by the employers to have certain particular demeanor. I´ve completes about 12 phone shops for funeral houses and cemeteries and yes, they are all fabricated responses. Sigh...

@CotePony - If you attract what you do with your luck, find some of those lottery shops. =)

I did all the ones within my designated area. When the rotation period ends, I'll likely do the same ones again. After the first couple, it was pretty easy. And I surprisingly learned a lot if I ever do need to plan a funeral.
Yikes!!!!!! Although I am sure I'd learn some things about funeral planning, I'm not sure if I'd like this scenario.
I somehow can handle those nursing home phone calls when you talk about sick relative who needs care. I have a family member in mind when I make those calls, I'm not sure I'm ready to burry that relative yet. Way too creepy. This is the only shop I wouldn't do, even if it's heavily bonused.
@BamBam33 - EM, well, if you get the non Jewish scenario it has to be a direct relative you have to "kill". On Jewish scenarios you can kill your inlaws... Just not sure if a wife/husband would appreciate a MS killing his/her mother in law...

Ok, I've done a lot of these. Hear me out- they are not for everyone. I remove myself from any emotional feeling, and it's like acting.

I don't use a loved one's real name most of the time. I use the name Ann a lot, there are no Anns in my family. I also use a fake last name so I feel more like I'm using an alias.

I realize it's quality control. If i needed to make that call, personally, I would want great service. By providing a test call, the company can see what goes on during a call. I've gotten some great directors, and some that I would have run away from screaming because of poor customer service.

It costs me nothing more than some time. It is frustrating to give out my phone number to see if they call back. They only call once though. It's also very frustrating when you can't get a funeral director on the phone. You have to dodge a phone call, then call back using a voicezilla (sp?)#. That doesn't really happen too often.

Most calls take just minutes, and no narrative! Just have to get their name, and they provide it right away.

I made $100 in one month doing these. I'm out of rotation for quite a few, but if you can not think of them as "creepy", they are well worth your time. They are usually nice people on the other end of the phone, just wanting to give you information and support.

The MSC that does these is very nice to work with, with supportive schedulers.
