Where I live you do not get a police report at the time of an incident. You receive a tiny 2" x 3" slip of paper with a police report number on it. You do not sign anything nor does the responding officer. You must then wait until the report is actually available which usually takes a couple of weeks. You may then request a copy which you must also pay for.

But you do get a report at the end. I am just pasting what GM wrote as a summary:

"I am getting harassment from the police department. They are refusing to release information. They keep saying that vagrants cant have a vehicle. They are not listening to me. They are waiting for the insurance company to come & prove it is mine. Again on the premises that I was traveling & thus a vagrant. It was best & safer to leave the small mindedness of the tiny town. My insurance cant do anything until they have a report. They have to get the report since I am getting a run around. It is a mess."

"The registration, title, bill of sale is all in the truck. My license has an address different from the title & bill of sale which is different from the registration. This is a reason why I am getting harassment. My plates were from Oregon, my license from Missouri, my insurance was from Washington. My credit cards/ banks are from Florida, Georgia, & New York. They are refusing to hear me out. I was going to center my information to one location when I snowbird in October to Montana then on to Arizona. Yes my information is a choatic mess that most people w/ narrow minds will not understand however if you trace my travels it makes sense. Problem is I cant get these cops to listen to me. To them, I am a menace to society w/an evil pitbull. It was easier & safer all around to leave and wait it out in another city/ state."

The "runaround" is not because she is a vagrant but because the police is suspecting illegal activities. If the car is registered in OR (license plates) then it is required by law to have auto insurance from OR, not WA, according to the DMV in both these states. The driver's license can be from anywhere where the driver resides, but if the individual is the registered car owner, and this is a personal vehicle, not commercial, then car registration, car insurance, and DL have to be from the same state.

GM, we do not judge you. Just saying that the problem with the police attitude is not that you travel around but that everything with your paperwork was not following the state law from your state, whatever it was, and thus you appeared suspicious to them. The incident happened on the RI/MA border, an area where the mob still has many activities, and there are a lot of colleges and private schools in the area and the police wants to ensure the peace and safety of that population as it is a major income generator. Plus, from early May until early June it is commencement period in the area and there are many high importance dignitaries and their families who travel, ie Musharaf of Pakistan had his son here and came to visit unannounced at the time, the Premiere of China has his daughter at Harvard, etc Without counting private high schools like Milton Academy, etc, there are more than 100 colleges and universities in MA, and the border is very close to RI that ahs brown, RISD, and others. Brown is a magnet for the kids of kings and foreign diplomats.
GM, I think everyone wishes you the best...I know I do. It seems you have the grit it takes to overcome most difficult situations.

Yes, Lisa, absolutely something was lost in the translation. Because the very casual, non-judgmental comment I made that caused you to respond, "That's not true," thus calling me a liar and triggering my reaction is NOT what you quoted above. It was: The people who can pay a high premium **without thinking about it** could **probably** replace the item on their own if they had to."

Which is very different from what you quoted above. And the fact that in order to quote me like that, you had to deliberately delete some of my words proves that you knew you were misquoting me. Yes, there definitely were some things lost in the translation. However, you are the one who lost them.

YOU are the one who became argumentative here. Yes, I may have defended myself more harshly than some here feel was warranted, but I took it personally because I know people for whom $35 a month is a lot of money and I don't appreciate being called a liar.

I also don't appreciate having words put into (or taken out of) my mouth, which you should have learned when bgriffin thought he would be cute by deliberately misquoting me to try to get a laugh. You been taking lessons from him?

So you may have called me a liar in response to what you *thought* I said (or are now trying to pretend I said), and I called you a snob in response to what you actually *did* say, but may not have meant the way it came out.

I'd call that even at this point.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Sorry, Irene, I didn't let bgriffin get away with misquoting me and I'm not going to stand by and watch anyone else do it either. Toggle me if you want.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
dspeakes, perhaps you're confused? I just went back through and did not see any point in this thread where Lisa quoted you. Correctly or incorrectly. The quote that you seem to be hung up on is one that she quoted OF HERSELF as a way to help clarify what she meant. Apparently above being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative you also seem to have some odd feeling that you are misquoted constantly.

Also, there was no try. I got quite a few laughs out of that. Both because it was funny and because you acted like such a 3 year old child over it.

dspeakes, what is YOUR obsession with LisaSTL? Every time I log on to the forum, you are flapping your gums about something she did or said or insinuated. If you don't like what she has to say, just toggle her. I am sure that her feelings will not be hurt in the least bit.

And I think I am speaking for many of the forum members when I say, we are sick and tired of your negative and argumentative posts. ENOUGH ALREADY! This obsession with LisaSTL is creepy. Still not as creepy as the leather underwear thing but creepy nonetheless.

I've noticed that too! It's like 3 people can say the exact same thing to her and Lisa is the one she gets all pissy at about it.

BG, I did quote her and left out the word probably. It probably wouldn't have prevented more arguing anyway.

This is an afterthought on the OP's lifestyle and problems, some of which are to her making and others not. We all have problems (seriously) throughout life, cancer, divorce, loss of a child and recently, I had to rent out my home and move in order to place my sister in an assisted living home...very hard to do, but she had severe Dementia and lost 100% of her short term memory. Why would I expect anyone to care, this was our families problem, and an expensive one. GM has problems by making her life choice's.....life is rough, deal with it, and let's all move on!!

Live consciously....

The main thing that comes to mind, is, they seem like they may be pretty warm. Not ever having tried any myself, I don't have first-hand experience here; I'm just guessing based on the general properties of leather. Anyway, being fairly warm, they could make the wearer all sweaty, thus cancelling out any (or most of the) sexiness the wearer was trying to achieve. smiling smiley

Also, just how far into semantics are we going to go, here? For cryin' out loud. The general concept, and the intention behind it, has been stated and re-stated. And seems perfectly clear.

But it has been mildly entertaining, in a disturbing kind of way. winking smiley

Lisa called you a liar? I missed that. Where? dspeaks you might want to move on to another forum or site. I have been a part of this forum for over a year. Yes, I have been chewed up and spit out. I had thin skin at first, but they were only trying to help me not hurt me. Anytime I have PM'ed anyone of this forum they have kindly been there to help me. They will throw out a troll like, like? Somebody help me here? As far as I can spit? Drink my first drink at five? It might behoove you to find another site.
Not exactly leather underwear but maybe this will lighten the mood...

bgriffin I hear what you are saying. I have no idea what Gypsy's situation is. Does she have insurance, how much does it cost, what is her truck worth, what are her savings? I do not expect her to reveal that but the discussion about carrying comprehensive seemed to me to say (not directed at Gypsy) that it would be silly for anyone not to carry comprehensive insurance. I was merely stating that carrying comprehensive on an old now inexpensive automobile is a choice that would not be considered wise by many people. Each person's situation is different and people need to consider their choices in where to spend money based on their personal situation and not do something because every one else does or seems to do based on advertising.

My mom got sick and i took her to the hospital. I had to pick up my daughter from dance class. On the way from picking her up I felt my car was going to stop. I got off the highway and my car stopped at the end of the ramp. I called 911, police gave me a ticket then pushed me off the ramp. My car was towed ..engine problems. Had to have aunt to come get me. It took her 2 hours and I was only 20 minutes away. Went back to hospital. Got home went to get some water and my faucet just fell apart. ...I had had 7 reports due between 2 days..didn't happen but all shops were understanding and they eventually got done

If he filled out a police report then he may of had too.

One time when a friend of mine had a minor
accident and the police came he handed us the form
to fill out and said if we fill it out then he doesn't have
to list who is at fault. If he fills it out then he has to
list who is at fault and give both parties tickets.

In my city the police do not respond to accidents that do not involve an injury. My car was over turned once on the border of a neighboring city. The middle of the street where it began was in the other city and my car got pushed into the city I live in and onto the sidewalk. My son was hanging upside down and sideways from the seatbelt but was not injured. The other city police passed by and stopped to see how we were but could not help. They told me at the time that no one would come from my city without an injury. We could not get a ticket or a police report. It was me against the other car and the two insurance companies. Had we been seriously blocking traffic the police would respond but for the obstruction part of it and not the accident part of it.

That as why I encourage everyone to get a dashcam and
put it in your car. They are widely popular overseas now
but have not caught on too much here in the states.
They are relatively inexpensive and if you are in an
accident it can show show who is at fault.

Dearest gypsy,

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you were reaching out to us initially with questions pertaining to lost communication as it related to filing impending reports while on the road and on the "down and out".

Chatter aside, please tell us how we can help you, if you want our help at all. If you want us to step aside, please let us know. Mostly, it's up to you.
I think it was more a self-pat on her back that she managed to submit 7 reports on her android, even though she had her truck stolen, etc. Then it became a soap opera on how bad the police has been treating her because she does not conform to societal norms, travels with the dogs, etc, but it appears it was more that she broke the laws of her state and the local police was trying to determine whether she was a criminal or what. Mind you, in a state that does not report anyone to ICE and bends backwards to accommodate homeless, alternative lifestyles, drug addicts, green smoking, people walk around in their nighties, etc. I feel for GM, but I also want the police to do their job.
A lot of drama, melodrama.
