Five Guys - I think they know I'm their shopper

I did one at a local mall where the music was 90+ Db playing rock. I wanted out of there fast, I put that in the report that I hated the place because of the loud noise. They asked me to do the shop again the next month, took my parents for lunch. Could not talk to them the music was so loud. Gave them a bad rating again. Next month they asked me to shop it again with bonus. I was standing at the counter and could not hear my number called over the loud music, another customer complained also. Low rating for the music once again. Now I won't touch that one location since they don't read or don't care what is in the report.

If the location is at a mall, the volume of the music is beyond their control. That would be set by the mall office and they would be the ones to complain to.

James Bond It is a stripmall / village type. So the music is just in the store.

Another one I shop the manager looked at me when I walked in and said "Welcome Back". That was the day they had an invasion of crickets slip under the crack of their door. Everywhere I looked those buggers were hopping around with employees chasing them.

I hate doing the online shops, because it always seems like the crew members are unusually motivated and perky during those shops. Maybe online orders aren't too common and the only one's that do those kind of shops were mystery shoppers.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.

I've done Five Guys shops for many locations, and every single location has rock music blaring loud enough to make me not want to return. I guess that's kinda their trademark. It is annoying, because it makes conversation with my guest next to impossible. The music itself is not bad, just the volume.

I also have been frozen out of the one closest to my house but I get calls several times a month to do the one in the next town over. I figure the local one wasn't happy with something I reported.

When I do a Five Guys I always pull up Words With Friends on my phone and oh-so-casually lay my phone faceup on the counter while I order. I've had a few employees glance at it and then rapidly lose interest because I'm clearly only playing a dumb game. (I've thought of downloading Candy Crush for the same purpose, but that's the only time I'd ever play it and I don't know what the scoreboard looks like--don't wanna give myself away with a nice, pristine-looking game.) Works like a charm.

Last 5 guys I went to, I found a piece of burnt meat that was like a rock in the burger. I ended up spitting it out in fear of loosing a filling. When I went back to get a refill, I looked at the grill and they had new burger patties down with pieces of old burnt up patties all around them and a dirty grill surface. There was a mound of burnt up meat pieces at the back of the grill top. I reported it, but still gave them 9's all around and downplayed how badly the grill needed to be scraped.

After taking on a Five Guys shop, they are now my new favorite burger joint. I already froze myself out of the location closest to my house.

I have another shop with them coming up soon, and I am craving a burger! I am also happy about the better fee.

The things I like best about the Five Guys shops are a) you can order what you want how you want it so I can get the burger with no bun and no crap on it to reduce the sodium and b) if you wait until they are nearing the end of the cycle, you can get pretty decent pad on them. I did one the other day that is five minutes from my house for an $18 pad. I refuse to do the shops for the clown's burgers with that same company, even with the bonus because they question the timings and the food is less than edible.

Ask for a Grilled Cheese Sandwich and then ask them to add Hamburger Patties and all of your favorite toppings inside the Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Make sure they know to grill up the Buns like they would for a Grilled Cheese!

I love also that you can basically grill the jalapenos and peppers as well. If no one's tried this yet, also try a grilled cheese hot dog during your next shop!

They DO know who you are. When the report goes to the managers, they it on tape. I an employee does something really bad, they show them the tape when they counsel them. I know this for sure because I have two friends who work for Five Guys. They are not management and they have been shown tapes from during mystery shops. I do not shop Five Guys because I know people there and my friends at Five Guys do not know I mystery shop. They just talk a lot and I listen and don't talk.

Oh wow and I do the same shops every month with the same employees. No wonder I get such good service and the manager comes to the table to check how it is going. I usually give those places good scores though. Except one I noticed mold growing under the drink machine and another the bugs flying around the drink machine. The MSC emailed me back asking more about the mold, where ut was, what shape it was how dark. They little 300 character limit in the form did not allow me to expand in the original report. I was more detailed in the email. Good thing they are not like another MSC that deducts points for that.

I was doing a bunch of their shops last fall/winter, and I think one guy caught on to me. He would come over to chat with me while i was eating, being real friendly, making small talk. But the shop never disappeared from my offers. I just got tired of doing them and eating that greasy food.

It really has gotten to be a joke, I'm glad someone confirmed it. The manager offers to refill my drink, makes a beeline for the bathroom when I'm about done because she knows I check after I eat then holds the door open for me when I leave. They even bring me a clean bag without asking because they know I take the extra fries home.

if you register with most of the MSC's listed here on this forum, you will find. Besides it being a violation of the ICA contracts, most people don't want to give up information they worked hard to find themselves.

How often is too often to shop 5 guys?? I don't usually do them more than every month or so at the same location. some companies have a definite rotation so every 30-60-90 or 180 days. So you can only do them that often and it blocks you out of you try to do them more often.

I've shopped at the same locations usually within a 2 week period. There was one occasion when I accepted assignments within about a week's time span. I recall clarifying this with the MSC support. They stated that I was allowed to proceed with the assignment since there wasn't anything in the paperwork that disallowed this.

Follow up - So when I wrote this 3 weeks ago, I was black listed from the Five Guys by my house and 2 others. Guess what popped up on my options today . . . yep, 2 of those 3 locations that I was banned from. When you put things out in the universe, sometimes it just works out. On another note, that third location - I found out it actually closed down. Happy Hump Day, people =)

It was a late dinner shop so the place was empty. I was the only customer sitting there waiting for the place to close to see if they kicked me out. Then the invasion of the crickets happened, they just kept crawling in under the door frame. It was fun watching them catch them and pop them back outside. (There was a huge bunch of crickets on the outside of the store)
